"Fantastic location with 11 acres, river in grounds and Abbey ruins next door. Had dinner in restaurant which was excellent as was breakfast the next day. Used as a stop off for one night from Aberdeenshire to the midlands and same price as well known hotel chains. An issue with bed on arrival but sorted out by receptionist promptly."

"Was a little further from Selkirk than expected/noticed at booking but was worth the extra miles. Bus didn’t stop so had to book a taxi from Selkirk. The hotel was helpful and offered to come pick us up if needed! Food at dinner and breakfast was excellent."

"Possibly the worst place I’ve ever stayed. I didn’t receive the check in instructions, so on arriving had to spend around an hour trying to figure things out. There are no staff at the property and the phone number on their website is incorrect. Room had no bin, no mirror or tea & coffee facilities. This is a basic. No outdoor lighting and slippery broken decking steps is a health and safety hazard. Another guest kept leaving the main door open, and one night I took my dog out in the night to...

"Stayed one night when attending a wedding in the castle. Can only recommend on my visit. Looked after by Cathy from arrival until breakfast next morning. Had dinner at Crown hotel a few mins from hotel and 10% discount on food was applied for hotel guests. Mind flash the key fob to let them know before the bill is on table. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast was served and tea/ coffee top ups were no trouble if asked for. Recommend the Kirkstyle if staying in the area."

"Grounds and castle were beautiful. Unfortunately spa facility’s were not open, nor were 2 of the 3 restaurants. Service was somewhat inconsistent, especially at the bar. We sat for 10 minutes before bartender acknowledged us, only after me asking if we could get a drink. Same experience in the restaurant - one night was great and next night we weren’t even offered wine and drink list. Very odd."

"Lovely stay. Our room had previously been the old public bar, so was huge! Decor was a little tired and could do with a refresh (especially the bathroom - such a wasted opportunity not to put a bigger bath in there)! The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious - such a treat to have kippers, being on a ban at home for them! Would recommend and definitely stay again!"

"After a long journey we were so pleased to stay at this B&B, we received a warm welcome, the building is beautiful with lovely views and our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. "One night stay in this historic house now being used as a hotel located a short walking distance from Hawick centre set in an attractive garden with a wonderful park nearby. Lovely interior with large attractive lounge, entrance hallway and staircase. Large bedroom and en suite bathroom. The Large king-size bed was firm and therefore not that comfortable. Breakfast was a standard traditional option with cereal and juices. Not much interaction with staff except at check in and ordering breakfast....

"Great alternative to corporate hotels . Stayed night before Edinburgh marathon to watch son run . Close enough to get there . Hadn’t realised about communal kitchen and making drinks and bringing tea and milk , but slept well and drove locally to eat out"
