The flowers of Cercis canadensis or Eastern Redbud. These flowers are indeed edible. They don't pack a huge amount of taste, just a very slight peppery flavor. Next time you come across some, give them a try and share them with someone special.
A tiny white flower, smaller than a button, with violet stripes on the petals and violet stamens as well.
The flower of Podophyllum peltatum or May apple. This is a spring ephemeral that emerges from from rhizomes beneath the ground before the forest canopy above fully expands. The plant will produce a fruit in the summer that sort of resembles a small lemon. Both the fruit and flowers are easy to miss because the reside below the foliage. I had to lay on the ground to take this shot.
