"Who was contemporary and nicely designed? The room was extremely hot. No air conditioning 80° plus. I asked them to fix the air conditioner. They told me that they couldn’t do anything about it, and they offered to give me another fan but we already had two fans in the room. I don’t think that room was worth $280. Very disappointing."

"Lovely setting, great welcome, food superb, staff friendly and helpful We had the suite (kingfisher) which was an excellent room except for a radiator being stuck on in the bathroom. The lady in charge (lovely lass) managed to get it sorted as the outside temp was up in the 30’s!!! If I have any criticism of the room, a little use of bleach would have gone a long way but please don’t let that put you off. The place is very very good. "Room was clean, body wash in room was empty on arrival. The air-conditioning was not working properly. It was a hotel wide issue. Room was super hot. They were aware of the issues ahead of time and didn’t say anything if that’s the reason you’re saying I wouldn’t recommend it. It was a great place to watch the World Cup."

"Food poisoning the first night, rooms hotter than the sun, zero water pressure in the bathrooms. Constantly chasing staff for the most simple things. They ran out of ice. No fans for the rooms. No one collecting glasses or emptying an ash tray. Asked for a coffee in the morning and waited 15 minutes.. got up to ask where it was "oh i couldn't find you" yeah because you were in the kitchen flirting with the chef.. Could be such a wonderful place, if the staff weren't recreating Fawlty Towers"

"We stayed at the White Star for only One night and throughly enjoyed it. Great location. Lovely rooms with a comfortable bed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed a dinner & breakfast in the restaurant. Both delicious meals. Highly recommend this place."

"The property was very run down . The facilities were badly looked after, if not non existent. The food was very average. The drinks were extremely overpriced. The hotel was much too expensive for what was on offer. We were expecting a spa hotel, and it definitely wasn’t. Very disappointed."

"We got in late at night prior to boarding a cruise the next day. We almost didn’t realize that it was a hotel upon entering, because the check-in was at a bar, but it was a very cool and welcoming atmosphere.
