"Our stay at Cliveden House was absolutely wonderful. From start to finish-even withstanding a blip-it was a true joy. Our room was ready early which was a huge bonus and Polly on reception was warm and thorough with our check-in process, explaining and showing us all we needed to know. Our room was great: super comfy bed with options to change pillows, lovely toiletries by Noble Isle, a fab working fire place and yummy complimentary snacks. We had a delicious lunch in the Great Hall, and even though it took longer than ideal, the numerous games available to play kept us amused. The grounds are magnificent and you can walk for hours taking in nature. We were accommodated for dinner in Astor Grill even though we only attempted to reserve a table in the late afternoon. The food, again, was very good as was the service, although one of our dishes was unfortunately forgotten about. We received it promptly once we reminded the staff. Breakfast in the dining room was wonderful, overlooking the pristine lawns and surrounding woodlands. The quality and service was fantastic; no request was too much trouble. The mix of an à la carte menu along with a buffet for continental items was very pleasing and guaranteed hot items were cooked fresh. Eggs royale is not a menu item but the staff member didn’t hesitate to say yes when requested. We were fortunate to get a late check-out, this lent itself to an extended and relaxed time in the superb spa. A stay that left us wanting more! "

"This was the perfect, most charming place to stay for our overnight in Cookham. The room was absolutely spotless and was decorated like home. The bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed bubble baths in the huge tub. The pub itself is beautiful, and we loved having our drinks by the fireplace. Highly recommend!"

"We only booked because we wanted to be close to a restaurant we were going to. This meant we didn’t take advantage of restaurant, pool or gym. Parking is free but you have to drive around the town until you find a space so not ideal. The rooms are also spread out over three separate buildings. We were over the road from reception but if you need anything, the very friendly staff bring it over to you.little tip Bring your own tea & coffee. We chose a snug room , our friends who are quite tall were moved to a comfort as they were told that the room would be too small. Our room was extremely small , tiny wardrobe with 2 hangers, no shelf in the shower to put wash bag & nowhere to put your case. The double sized bed was comfortable at least. I know it’s advertised as opulent & quirky but the quirkiness soon wears off , the room was very dark, with black studded walls & velvet ceiling & curtains. Air conditioning was noisy so had to turn that off & the room became very hot. Unfortunately this hotel didn’t suit us at all but I’m sure if you’re going to use all the amenities & you want something VERY different then you might enjoy it "

"Room was clean. More wipe clean than a hospital room though with a plastic shower cupboard off the bedroom and a toilet in another cupboard. Budget yes but absolutely no home comforts. Not even a duvet and the room was so cold I needed the heater all on night. "
