The current staff knows they're in the hospitality business. The current owners appear to know they are in the hospitality business, too.
They are working to correct the flaws in the property that previous owners ignored. It seems they only considered the hotel a cash cow and regarded maintenance and updating as unnecessary nuisances.
Some things we liked:
1. The friendly staff. My daughter is handicapped and I'm 90 years old. The people who work at the hotel are always friendly and willing to help.
2. My daughter and I had a handicapped accessible room that accommodated her large power wheelchair. She could turn it around in the space at the end of the entrance hallway.
2. The huge, California King bed did take up a lot of room, yet it was comfortable and clean.
3. The lightweight bed spread that is easily laundered, so all the linens are fresh for each new guest.
3. The shuttle service to and from the airport.
4. The reasonable room rates.
5. Security. Grand Rapids is a very nice city. Like all places, some undesirable people do live there. There was no hint of that element during our stay. The guests included young families who were in town for a softball tournament, which added to our pleasure.
My daughter and I look forward to staying with you again.
