Overall a Decent Stay, but with Room for Improvement
We chose Inn at the Waterpark primarily for its value on Expedia and its convenient location near the Gulf and Galveston attractions. While we didn’t experience any major issues during our 6-day stay, there were several concerns worth noting.
The property itself felt safe and quiet, and the staff were consistently friendly and responsive when we reached out. However, a few maintenance and cleanliness issues did detract from the overall experience.
We observed visible mold in several areas, including the ice machine on the third floor, inside our room’s air conditioning unit, and parts of the bathroom.
On the one day we turned the heat on due to a chill in the room, a strong smoke-like odor was emitted, possibly from melted blue scent beads or air freshener which was visible in the system.
Housekeeping did not automatically service our room during the week, we had to request it when we wanted it cleaned. While staff responded promptly to those requests, it would’ve been nice to have a more proactive approach to cleanliness throughout the property.
In summary, the stay was quiet, budget-friendly (approximately $130 per night), and the staff was kind, but improvements in sanitation and upkeep, especially regarding mold and ventilation, would greatly enhance the guest experience.
