"We both really loved this property despite having no lift1 The owner is a lovely man and brought a boottle opener from home to lend us. The breakfast was exceptional. "Accomodation was perfect for us as we were travelling with our small dog. Excellent selection of coffee and teas in the room. Staff were all really helpful and friendly. We had our evening meal in the hotel, whih was excellent, as was our breakfast the following morning. Lovely town to stay in with plenty of pubs restaurants and bars. We will definitely stay again when in the area. "

"As a budget hotel, it was excellent. Everything was provided in the room what was needed for an overnight stay. Beds were so comfy and room was set out really nice. Couldn’t fault anything at all. Dining room/ reception area was ideal and breakfast was excellent."

"A good alternative to staying in Halifax for us while visiting family. Clean and comfy room with a modern feel and easy contact-free checkin/out. Has parking, but we were car free so used local taxis for the most part to/from Sowerby Bridge centre (£10 each way) and also walked a few times (be aware, quite a steep but enjoyable climb, takes around 25 mins). "Great place. The guy at check in was brilliant. Had salmon and king scallops for tea and was beautiful. The Missus enjoyed her fish n chips. Breakfast was excellent, one of the best we’ve had and the lady got us in early cos we had somewhere to go. Couldn’t do enough for us. Will go again 100%"

"I find it very difficult to review this. The staff were absolutely lovely as were the other guests. However, I felt very misled by the advertising. It was extremely noisy (I was woken at 4 am by footsteps above my room and as the people upstairs were dancers, I cannot think anything except it has zero sound insulation). I also didn’t realize it would not provide towels. I paid £95 and then was expected to pay £2 for a towel. Breakfast included was rice crispies or oats. Completely misleading...

"The whole atmosphere was wonderful. The rooms were lovely and the most comfortable bed and nights sleep. Breakfast was nice, I highly recommend The Toby Royal!"

"Excellent for the price I paid. Rooms have recently been renovated and it showed. The only niggles were that the extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy and probably needs replacing (room 10) and there was no hot water: I tried to have a shower but couldn't: No matter how long you ran the tap for or in which position the water never got warm. Would definitely stay there again. Big thank you to Jamie who so very kindly let me check in early."

"We could not have asked for a more fantastic place to stay. From arrival and check in, support from staff whilst we were there, location, quirky cabin... Proximity to the hills/ station/ pubs/ canal... Absolutely beautiful. The children loved the waterfall and the cabin itself... A log burner and a sofa to sleep on was a great asset for them. Waking up amongst the trees and being able to feed the ducks 10 meters away. We ate in the village and also had a takeaway... Great choice and fabulous...

"When i arrived I was not sure where to go and got to meet Ralphaldo who is the concierge that put me straight in the hotel's golf buggy and took me to the reception. He was great to talk to and was a lovely person to chat with and so cheerful. The suite was amazing and spacious, it was also clean and spotless. The staff were lovely and were extremely helpful in the restaurants and made wonderful suggestions. The food was amazing, each restaurant was great and had their own wonderful menus"

"First time to the area, for a family wedding at another venue. Staff were great, friiendly with out being over bearing. Room was clean and well maintained and although we only had bar snacks and drinks on site, they were great."
