"This is a no frills country pub that doesnt pretend to be anything else. But it delivers everything you hope for ...a clean warm room, a comfortable bed, a great shower, and really good food. It's a great place to stay. "

"We were pleased to be located at the rear of the complex so didn’t hear traffic noise. The suite was situated nicely and clean and the beds were comfortable. Was especially happy to be welcomed by a cat, not sure if it’s part of the complex or neighbour but was a delightful surprise, just want to know its name. Only there for a night so only interaction with staff was check-in and the person was friendly. Kitchen is small but has the basic supplies to be able to prepare a simple meal."

"Recommend the Junior Suite if you enjoy space. This is a historic hotel so although not like a brand new hotel....is a total classic and a beauty. Staff were so incredible. Very small lifts were a representation of days gone by. A fantastic experience, central and on the main road so a perfect location. Our bathroom was huge, tiled with a spa bath. Plenty of towels. They provide shampoo and body wash in a dispenser in the shower. Piping hot water and huge water pressure. Small fridge with the...

"Authentically maintained old hotel in a stunning location. Considering the very low outside temperatures, the hotel, restaurant and accommodation areas were toasty warm during our entire stay (3 nights). Beds and pillows super comfy, bedding super cosy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of options on the continental breakfast buffet, and evening menu was great too. A lot of sights to see and several quaint settlements and towns to visit, all within an hour or so drive of the hotel....

"Fantastically comfortable bed, couldn't wait to get into it each of the 3 nights we stayed. Nicely appointed and very clean accommodation but in this day and age the least expectation would be a small microwave and a sink in the room. Found plates, cups and cutlery but not ideal having to wash up in the bathroom and Ranfurly doesn't have many places to eat out at night."

"I had a wonderful stay at Pen-y-bryn Lodge. The property is a beautiful historic building with a peaceful atmosphere, and the room was spacious, spotless, and full of character. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming, making the stay feel warm and personal. Overall, a fantastic experience — I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone visiting Oamaru."
