"Staff was unhelpful when I tried to address issues with room. Zero amenities available (that showed when booking- pool, water slide, breakfast etc.) and no indication at check in. Paid $399 for one night and there was no working shower in the room, no apology. No care. They posted the deposit instead of removing it and when I called, 1800 next day when I noticed, they couldn’t find my booking or stay even tho I have a copy of the receipt. Awful interaction and 2 dissapointed kids . We only booked this spot for breakfast, location and waterslide so very much unhappy. Not impressed. Deposit is still on my card after saying they would remove z"
"The hotel had a sign on the door for the room next to us that they were removing asbestos, with the door sometimes open. No plastic....nothing. This is a violation and the heath authority should be contacted ASAP. Absolute no regard for safety.
WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation Part 6 covers substance-specific requirements. While it doesn't explicitly forbid a guest in the next room, it mandates "Containment and Control." If they are working in the room next to yours, they must meet these standards:
Negative Air Pressure: The "dirty" room must be under constant negative pressure using HEPA-filtered fans. This ensures that if there’s a leak in the plastic, air flows into the work zone, not out into the hallway or your room.
Decontamination Facilities: Workers cannot just walk out of the room. They must use a multi-stage "shower" or "clean room" setup inside the containment.
Sealed Barriers: They typically use "6-mil poly" (thick plastic sheeting) to seal every vent, electrical outlet, and door.
The Occupiers’ Liability ActBeyond WorkSafeBC, the hotel is bound by the BC Occupiers’ Liability Act.
This law requires property owners to take "reasonable care" to ensure people on their premises are safe. If a hotel puts you in a room where you could potentially inhale fibers, they are opening themselves up to massive legal liability. Because of this, most reputable hotels will leave a "buffer" of empty rooms around the work zone to avoid noise complaints and safety risks."
"We have stayed here multiple times over the past few years and everything was good. This visit I felt there were several opportunities for the hotel to do a better job. Our room was tidy but the carpet is getting worn and felt dirty. We have always arrived early in the past and steps were always taken to get us in early. This time it was not possible as the hotel had been heavily booked the night before. We understand this but it was not until checking back after several hours that the front desk person decided to ask housekeeping to clean our room type next. This could have been done hours earlier rather than make us wait so long. The thing that bothered me the most this trip were the doors and windows. Just covered with handprints and so visible in the sun. It made it look dirty. The courtyard was untidy also. Nobody swept the 3 days we were there so there was sugar packets, cigarette butts, straws and weeds around the walkways to the rooms in the courtyard. The pool was not open. It looked clean and full but was not going to open til May 1st weekend. This was dissapointing as the weather was beautiful and 23 to 25C during our stay. We stay all over the place and other hotels are opening and closing their pools based on the weather. Lastly, if there are going to be fabric chairs in the breakfast room, please clean them. I can’t understand why yellow fabric is used when the place is full of kids, workmen etc. . gives a bad impression when they are stained and dirty."
"Fair price and a clean room. Giving a 2/5 for the broken door because its a security issue and I can't in good faith recommend a stay until that issue is fixed."
