The Eureka Inn is historically interesting, having been there forever and having hosted many luminaries in that time. But, there's a slight mildewy smell in the lobby that comes and goes, the parking is limited. Because of high crime in the area parking is fenced off and if you need to get into your car between midnight and 6:00 am you have to have a staff member unlock the gates. Also, beware the steps leading to the lobby from the drive up portico. They are carpeted, patterned, and have zero contrast to help with your depth perception as you walk down them. It's easy to misstep, and the carpet lets you slip if you do that. Frankly, it's dangerous. I slipped and fell, and while they front desk clerk was very solicitous and helpful, the owner happened to be there and he acted very put out when I asked that an official record be made in case I had more than bumps and bruises from my fall. As for the room, it was clean and well kept, so no complaints there. But, in all honesty, we cannot recommend staying at this property, a sentiment echoed by locals when they found out where we were staying.
