"My friend and I were looking for a base to explore the historic towns, houses and gardens of this area, and struck lucky with this hotel. We were impressed by the pleasantly relaxed atmosphere, the quality of the food, the variety of dining and bar areas and the comfortable, well-maintained and quiet rooms (no audible traffic noise). "If you use a wheelchair make sure you state this when booking. Accessible suites are only available on the 2nd floor and the lift does not go to the third floor. We were on the third so we had some steps to use and drag the chair up. An access ramp is at the side of the building but, if you cannot do stairs, you have to wheel through the outside bar patio in the front, into the back of the bar, through the restaurant and out into the lobby. Very small lift as well if you have a lot of...

"The Lamb is a gem, and I highly recommend booking a reservation for dinner while you stay. It was the best meal of my trip hands down! Adorable place, walkable in a small town, what more could you want! "

"St Marys Gate Inn looked extremely comfortable, clean and welcoming in the photo's online. Believe me when I say, it is much much more when you arrive. Welcomed by Lola on arrival (we were much earlier than expected) we were shown a table for Sunday lunch straight away (Food is excellent both flavours and presentation). The room was exceptional, huge main area, immaculate bathroom, tea and separate coffee facilities in the room, two huge windows. Bed was very comfortable, just a very relaxing...

"Lovely hotel, with bags of charm. A great garden, fab pool with doors opening to the garden. Staff were friendly and attentive. A tip if you are a light sleeper is to avoid Rm. 205 as the air con unit is directly beneath and rumbles on and off throughout the night. It wasn’t too much of a problem for us but worth knowing. "
