I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The location was phenomenal for a tourist -- just down the street from Grassmarket and a short walk from there to Princess Street, the castle, Royal Mile, etc. In the other directions were quieter but still active neighborhoods with endless options for food and drinks. The hotel itself was a bit dated but well maintained. I was pleasantly surprised with how quiet the room was, despite my being on the ground floor right up against the reception area. I would stay here again in a heartbeat for my next visit.

Overall disappointed. Hotel was average for a high price. Not as good as other other hotels of the same name. Say in the other hotels in group all the time

Location was at a decent place, not far from Old Town, bars and cafes nearby. Easy to get a cab on the street and hotel has a button to order one. But the reason why the hotel is poor, is the overall bad condition of it. Both rooms carpeted floors were disgustingly dirty and drapes had dirt that looked like a bloodstain on them. Shower/bath is really poor and not cleaned well. Also both rooms were really chilly. Staff mostly nice and helpful. Didn't try breakfast, sounded too pricey for what it was listed, but close to the hotel there's foodshops and cafes. The bed was really good.

Das Hotel ist in sehr guter Lage, zur Royal Mile sind es ca. 15 Minuten zu Fuß. Alles ist gut und bequem zu erreichen. Es ist relativ ruhig, außer die Zimmernachbarn lassen die Zimmertür zufallen. Ein altes uriges Gebäude mit Charme. Das Frühstück ist landestypisch, jeder findet was, um satt zu werden. Kaffee war sehr lecker. Die Sauberkeit ist ausbaufähig! Bei uns lag noch das Schlafshirt vom Vorgänger in der Ecke auf dem Boden als wir das Zimmer bezogen und der "Müll" (ein großes Wackelauge) im Bad hinter der Tür war auch noch vom Vorgänger und hat unseren Aufenthalt auch sicher überstanden. Das Personal war freundlich, vor allem die beiden Damen im Frühstücksraum.

Lovely staff!
The staff were amazing. They were really helpful and upgraded our rooms with no hesitation and offered free parking on site as we were staying for 3 nights. They were informative about the area and gave lots of recommendations. The room was beautiful and very spacious and had great amenities.

The hotel was very centrally located. Everything in the Old Town (Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle) but also the New Town was within 20 minutes walking distance. Nevertheless, it is far enough away from the hustle and bustle. There are plenty of great pubs and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

This is an older property but well maintained. The room was large with high celling. Early check-in was not problem. The room was well equipped and additional coffee/tea supplies request was granted quickly. It was a stuffy in the room but a fan is supplied that helped. Room cost increased substantially without real explanation when additional night booked (220.50 to 359.GBP). I was able to cancel without issue and was able to book elsewhere. This is a very nice hotel that is totally accessible. They could add a recycling bin in the rooms. I would recommend.

Horrible Experience! Stay anywhere else
Horrible experience. When we arrived at this hotel, we were greeted by the night manager who took our bags and "checked us in". We said we're going to go to dinner and have a drink and return. We came back at the hotel at 2300, to be informed that our rooms were "no longer available" due to a renovation. At midnight? I wish they would have just said that they double-booked and gave our rooms to travelers who arrived later. We were transferred to their "sister hotel", which was an absolutely disgusting place. Not much better than a hostel. Unless we get a significant refund, which we asked for at the hotel and were told it is not possible, then this same review will remain in place on all booking forums possible. People need to know what crooks they guys are and for the rates we paid $300USD per night, I feel robbed.

The picture of the property must have been taken a while ago because the property looks run down. They were doing some construction but the stairs were dirty and it just didn't look clean. The only thing nice I have to say is that the woman who serves breakfast is a delight.

Convenient and historic
Quaint old hospital building converted to a hotel. The main entrance isn’t on the front of the building which disorienting but easily overcome. My room was great, but my brother’s had a giant (no really, it was huge, and actually jumped at him when he opened the closet door!) spider, which the front desk was less than apologetic for, which surprised us. The breakfast was very good and the service was prompt and attentive. Can service was very good and the front desk was quite helpful arranging it. The elevator was laughably slow but got the job done.

nice hotel is a quiet area within walking distance to most attractions staff was friendly and helpful we had nice room with comfy large bed and a good clean bath (although I wish it was a shower instead) we even had a small electric fan which was great as we had few really hot days so it really helped at night it is a little overpriced for what it offers but i believe it is due to high tourist season

We had noise coming in from wind blowing something metal on the outside of our room. I called down to the reception desk and was basically told “sorry but to bad for you.”
