Dynjandi

For a sense of scale... There was only ONE other person around while I was at this waterfall and I got him in the photo... You might need to zoom in to see him, lol

This is the ultimate gem of the Westfjords!!! and pretty much the main reason I went into the Westfjords (being a waterfall fanatic). The roads in the Westfjords are not for the faint hearted, and I was pretty stressed driving here... But once I arrived it was all worth it! AMAZING!!! Possibly the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland, but that's a tall order as they are all so beautiful and unique in there own way.
The hike (#hiking) up to it isn't too bad, but a lot maybe 20min each way, more if you take a million pictures like I do. There are numerous smaller waterfalls on your way up, all with names, to check out and photograph. Be careful because it's spray is very strong (I had to wipe my camera lens after every picture), so the ground is pretty muddy and slippery.

In the Westfjords you will come across spectacular views around each new fjord bend, and this waterfall is no exception. A short hike up gets you a view of the waterfall close up and a amazing lookout across the fjord onto the ocean

Dynjandi waterfalls are a magnificent sight and is the most commonly visited place for tourists visiting Iceland. This view of the Atlantic ocean opposite to the waterfalls is just as serene as the waterfalls itself. The midnight sun at the horizon is just once a lifetime experience that no one should ever miss if you happen to visit Iceland, the land of Fire and Ice!
