Minecart Motor Lodge

"We found that the hotel/motel properties in Montrose seemed a bit expensive. Minecart Lodge is a very modest old style motel that has been freshened up. The room was fairly small but adequate. Even though we had a room pretty close to the road, it was quiet. The coffee was good for breakfast. They also had granola bars and containers of yogurt. The best part of the stay was walking next door to the restaurant called “Tacos and Beer” for you guessed it, delicious tacos and beer. This is a good place to stay if you’re visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. It’s a bit expensive for what it is, but that’s Montrose."

"I get a very nice hotel room with LOTS of room! The breakfast was ok, no pool, but the place was clean. Google directions will mislead you, turn in at the Mexican place not after."

"Overall a great stay. The staff were very helpful and the room is large. The made to order eggs at breakfast is excellent. The location is convenient to downtown and the grocery. The only thing I’d mention is that the AC was loud, and the soundproof between rooms is not the best. We still slept well since everyone went to bed around 10 and the building quiet down."

"The Riverwood Resort is a small, but conveniently located hotel at a reasonable price. Unfortunately our experience was disrupted by a water / sewer problem impacting the hotel building. Staff reacted promptly and were accommodating, Since we chose to move to another hotel, we received a prompt refund for the second night of our 2 night stay."
