"A great place to stay for families. A great breakfast was included in our stay. Deb the Receptionist was helpful and very friendly."

"The room, was filthy dirty, bed sheets smelt of mould wet dog. Cups dirty with coffee stains. Toilet filthy. Shower filthy, floor so dirty made your feet black. Walls all damaged. Smelt really bad in the room. Balcony outside extremely dangerous and broken. Floor uneven. No lights in the dark. Extremely noisy. Beds uncomfortable. Stains on sheets. Dust and dirt every where. The towels didn’t smell clean. Extremely unhappy. I didn’t take hardly any photos to proved as I’m sure the staff know."

"The room was basically dirty & scruffy. Linen & towels ok but the floor needed vacuuming & bathroom floor around skirting looked like had never been cleaned. Staff seemed stretched & too busy, most of the dinner menu was sold out & my partners poached eggs on toast resembled hard boiled eggs on toast as overdone. The pub is in a great location & my overall stay was not awful but should have been better. The room was only £65 so wasn't expecting the Ritz but expected a clean room without flaking...

"We ensured we arrived before 17.00 hours as the hotel has no-one on reception from 17.00hrs onwards. We felt this was a little restrictive although the Ancient Mariner staff were available to a later time in the evening. We found it convenient to have restaurant and bar food available at the Ancient Mariner and can thoroughly recommend it too. Breakfast is served between 8.00 and 10.00, a decent interval of time. The staff were pleasant and friendly but service for the hot food was a little slow...

"Most enjoyable stay, the room we had was spacious and beautifully decorated with a view of the river, and the bed was the softest we had ever slept in! Staff were really lovely and helpful, and made us feel very welcome from the beginning of our stay. Breakfast was especially good but the main menu was somewhat limited although of high quality, There was a small car park on site, and plenty of on-road parking although this was very busy during the day. However there was a large quay-side...

"Check in was easy, friendly staff, room decor was lovely, clean bedding. Parking was perfect and surroundings are beautiful. Had a beautiful breakfast too. Only negative was quite a few wood louse running round the bathroom, kept slippers on but may put you off if squeamish."

"Misleading information when booking stated that there was parking. There wasn’t parking at the hotel but on a nearby car park for £56 for the week !"
