This is a delightfully quirky place to stay. Staff were wonderful, informative and helpful. The original owner, sadly deceased, was definitely an eccentric. Those who manage the property today are keen to continue her vision. The property is rundown but that did not detract from the pleasure of being somewhere, at the end of our Death Valley drive, with a bit of character.
This property is an amazing little gem, that you should visit, if a rustic property is not an issue.
This is an amazing location for a quiet reflection.

The history here is incredible. Really beautiful and isolated hotel about 35-45m drive from major spots in Death Valley. We took a tour of the Opera House and hotel with Tammy who was incredible. Really loved the look and feel of the hotel.

Excellent hosts, super friendly and welcoming. Historic property with original architecture and interesting features. Second time stay, will definitely be back!
looking at the pictures I thought the placed looked 'OK" . There are two hotels in the national park that are amazing.
arrive late, the reception was closed. Called the number got voice message. There was a per stuck to the door that had some instructions, called the number someone on the line gave us some instructions. Got the key from a box, the hotel door handle had to pulled up and pushed down , struggled a bit. The carpet in the hall way was old and uneven. The room had a spider, the window mounted AC buttons were terrible. There was cob web on the sun faded curtains. The floor seemed uneven and dusty. The bed cover had some holes. The bath room had hard water and it felt slimy, I did not take a shower. I had booked this hotel for two days but decided not to stay the second night, and instead just booked a hotel in the national park. Of course I did not get a refund as it was less than 24 hours.
I would not stay at this place unless there is major renovation.

This place and its history is very cool! Being able to stay in a place with so much history, isn’t something you have the opportunity to do very often. With that being said, it is old and very quirky and definitely more on the lines of roughing it. If you can appreciate a cool piece of history and want to stay close to Death Valley it does the job…
It’s historic, which means it’s old. Staff was nice, beds were clean, interesting history. Needs some serious updates and maintenance. Nothing much around it for food.
This is an historic hotel that hasn’t been updated throughout any point in history. This makes it quaint and cute. It does mean, however, that the rooms are old and historic too. Tile in the bathroom was falling apart, carpet was rough, we had to wipe lots of dirt off of the bed comforter. Just know going in, it’s old and needs lots of attention.
Staff is super friendly, great proximity to Death Valley National Park.
