"It took 45 mins to check in as the reception staff kept checking in bus tours instead of dealing with people in a first come first served basis. Very poor service. I won’t be staying here again"

"Had a lovely 2 night stay at the Balavil Hotel. The food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent and freshly cooked to order. Room was very clean and looked like the hotel has been refurbished and redecorated recently. Swimming pool was a welcome addition to the amenities."

"On the main road through Aviemore . Not noisy and enough parking off road. Room number one is very small with just enough room to manoeuvre around double bed. Small bathroom with shower. Bathroom all in black with small spotlights. This room was very disappointing as it was so small. Only a kettle and sink, no toaster. Not enough room for two adults and two dogs. There were two chairs at the bottom of the bed to watch TV both in poor condition. Photos of the property do not reflect how small this room is."

"There is no air conditioning, but the weather was cool in April, so opening the window for a few minutes before bedtime made the room comfortable. Besides A/C the only amenity that was missing was a microwave oven. The room was very nice and quite large, compared to the others we stayed in on this trip."

"A stunning retreat in the Scottish Highlands. Beautifully appointed, stunning meals and very friendly staff. And a big bonus: meeting the pet highland cattle Shamus and Seòras (pronounced Shaw-us) in Gaelic; John and George in English."

"Food was good, staff friendly and helpful. Room nice and clean and comfortable. Breakfast freshly cooked and tasty. Tea/coffee facilities in room could be a bit better and a bigger bar only area would be an improvement, however overall happy with our stay."
