"The room was very clean and looked like it was recently renovated. There were also no odors, which is important to us as we are allergic to pets and dislike the smell of smoke. I personally liked that the room didn’t have carpeting as it made for a cleaner floor. The motel is on a semi busy street so there is some street noise but the motel was thoughtful enough to provide ear plugs for those who needed it. There are also limited parking spots that’s offered on a first come first served basis....

"This hotel is a charming landmark, renovated old hotel in a location that is very convenient to eighth Street and Golden Gate Park. It is well appointed, with clean, comfortable rooms and has a period charm. The staff is very accommodating. There is a dining room where a better than average breakfast is available every morning and you can bring your own food and eat there. It is very pleasant and well lit. The breakfast are generous and there are snacks available all day. I highly recommend it."

"The absolute best bed & breakfast in San Francisco! Cleanest rooms, friendliest and most attentive staff, great location, most delicious breakfasts and snacks/baked goodies throughout the day. Our son graduated from USF this past Saturday and we’ve consistently stayed here. On our next trip to S.F., just to visit and explore more we’ll stay there again!"

"The Grove Inn was great for a quick trip into San Francisco. Close enough to the area. Be mindful it is San Francisco and the streets are definitely full of hilss. If you can walk, everything is close enough. If you can't, Ubers are always available. The hotel itself was clean and secure with the charm of the Victorian Homes that are known for the area. "The room was clean and the staff were attentive. The location of the hotel was perfect. So why did I take a star off? Well, first of all the beds were not very comfortable. The beds were too soft and kinda sloped off the sides so you felt like you were going to roll off. The bathroom layout was ridiculous; there was a ton of empty unused space in the bathroom when more counter space would have been helpful. "The price, location and free (limited) parking is what brings me back to this hotel - I have stayed four times. The bed is comfortable. Staff have always been friendly. The area is quiet. Everything else is ok. I will be back."

"The room smelled deeply of bleach when we arrived and there were fingernail clippings in the carpet along the walls. The room was really small and awkward, very basic and minimal. Parking was extremely limited."

"Bedbugs. Completely stained bed cover. Hair in the sheets. Next to a loud bar. Dirty in general. I found a bed bug and got a refund and stayed somewhere else. Yes, it’s cheap but I wouldn’t sleep here for free."

"Small rooms with very limited parking. Although street parking is free on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) but finding a spot is challenge. No microwave in room. If you stay for more than 1 night they do clean rooms every day and replace all towels and do the bedding as well. Overall its a decent place to stay for the price. "clean and in a good spot. Felt very safe. A lot of the stuff is new and seems like it’s ikea furniture so I’m not sure how long it will last but looks great. Whoever redid the motel took some shortcuts when redoing it (the grouting, bathroom sink wobbles, bathroom door didn’t latch when you shut it) but all and all it was very nice and definitely recommend staying again."

"I stayed here for a few weeks due to work and it was very pleasant. While it has some dated features it still had very comfortable beds with nice sheets, hot water, very clean and quiet. The cleaning team were very good at their job and very friendly. It’s in a central location with many restaurants to choose from in Hayes Valley. I would suggest the front desk area be cleaner and more attended but I do recommend this place for the price."
