  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

We stayed at Home2 Suites and had two rooms for our large family, and everything was amazing. Breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options. The staff were kind and friendly, the rooms were very clean, and the kitchenettes were well stocked. The bathrooms were especially nice. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely return.

Staff was pleasant, free continental breakfast. Restaurants and a mall within walking distance, The room was very clean, had full size refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher it didnt have a stove, but had a small coffee maker, as well as all plates, dishes and silverware as well as a toaster ect. The bathroom was very clean lots of towels big closet space with lots of hangers and very large, wall unit dresser with a roll out dinning table and a love seat a 50" inch tv as well. All in all it was a great stay

Delightful stay

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything was clean, fresh, and felt brand new. The staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were quiet—perfect for rest. The entire property was well maintained and had a calm, easy atmosphere. There were also plenty of convenient items and places nearby, which made everything even more enjoyable. Thank you for a great experience!

Well, it was our first time staying in the hotel. It was my husband‘s birthday. We really enjoyed ourselves. The room was great. The service was great. Breakfast was great. Customer service was great. It was a very great experience and we will be back soon.

New facility - great place!

This facility is brand new (Feb 2025) and everything is clean and new. The building layout is convenient. The fitness facility is one of the best for a hotel gym. The bedroom suite was spacious and comfortable for a multiple day stay. Highly recommend!

Clean and Spacious

Home 2 Suites is now our favorite midway point in our trips east. The suites are spacious and incredibly clean. We could see immediately that this is a new hotel because it was pristine. The continental breakfast is also much better than your typical hotel breakfast. We liked it so much on our way east that we made a point of staying here on our way back home.

My family stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is very clean. We had a studio, 2 queen bed with a bathtub. I did have to call as the site said they didn’t have that available but the person on the phone was helpful. Breakfast was good. They now have options that are artificial dye free and high fructose corn syrup free, there was a little symbol to indicate that, which is great. They had a nice big breakfast area and an outdoor patio. The pool wasn’t cold but a hot tub would’ve been great! It was a nice stay all in all.
