Clean basic hotel in very small town at the terminus of the Cumbress & Toltec RR. Close to RR station.

Depressing, dreary, dingy old-style motel. On the plus side, it has new sink and toilet. Apparently, nothing better in the poor little town of Chama.

I thought the property was clean and safe. The surrounding area is very nice. It's minor, but the tv channel selection is minimal, and the picture was grainy.

The accommodations were adequate, but the room rate was way over priced. No, microwave or mini refrigerator and no staff on site at night for emergencies. There was an elderly couple that was accidentally locked out of their room and could not get a hold of anyone.

Although the room was large and the property is convenient to town, there was no refrigerator, no hair dryer, and most aggravating, the bottom "fitted" sheet on the bed would not stay on the mattress.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, but there were no hairdryers, irons or ironing boards in the rooms. The ice machine was in a locked room which was fine except when they couldn't find the key! :)

Two Night Stay

Our two nights stay left a lot to be desired. Evidently this motel only has two queen bedrooms, others are two single beds. Our queen bed was not very comfortable for two people, and they do not offer king beds although the room is plenty big to accommodate. No microwave, no refrigerator, and the ice machine did not work. A repair man did show up and had it working again by 6 PM or last night, but ice wasn’t ready until midnight. It is a very small town and not a lot of choices so that must be taken into consideration when visiting Chama.
