Sehr schön mit einem grossen Beigeschmack

Das Hotel ist sehr schön gelegen. Alles ist gut , auch das Frühstück ist ausreichend. Was überhaupt nicht geht ist das das WIFI auf 1 GB begrenzt ist und danach wird man getrennt. Das macht einen sehr negativen Eindruck für das ganze Hotel

One Night Family-Stay

The hotel is conveniently located near attractions in the Central Drakensberg. Check-in was easy and efficient. We had a problem with our air conditioner, which was swiftly resolved after reporting the issue. Parking is conveniently located close to the rooms. Breakfast was good with a good selection of food. Overall, a good experience and good value for money.

Unhappy stay

We booked through Hotel.com and requested a chalet 2 bedroom for 4 adults. When we arrived at 15h30 we were taken to a room with 2 double beds(No one queried this at the time) Not sure as my mom booked chalet for us. At 20h30 at night they came to tell us we in the wrong type of room and we have to pay more and change rooms. Firstly, why not say something at check in so we could have sorted it out than. Not at this time of night. We showed them the request of booking, the type of room and the amount we paid. They were not interested. They made us feel as if we were trying to sneak people in. Will never stay there again or recommend them. They need to understand customer service first.

The chalets look a little unimaginative aesthetically. Needs a proper rethink. The pub/bar area is too sterile and would really need some decore investment. The wood and lighting should be old school dark to give it country atmosphere.

The location is great. The overall condition of the units are not great and our specific unit had significant odour issues.

Great weekend

My family and I enjoyed our time at this resort. The food was well served and delicious and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the location very central to all the local spots. My daughter enjoyed the pool and putt. We will be back.

We had a few issues, that reception could solve when asked. The unit had a very nice view over a dam, that was a plus. Although we did not use any of it, the kids activities looked good.

Family Value

The Gooderson motto is 'Good value. Good fun.' I feel they achieve on the good value part at Monks Cowl (except their drinks prices at the bar), breakfast and dinner buffets were quite good. However 'Fun' comes at a price, whereas other resorts have free activities or they cost much less. Wi-Fi didn't seem to work during our stay. It is obvious that the resort has had some renovation but a few areas are a bit shabby. The linen and pillows on the beds had seen better days. I would still recommend it as a good value stay.

According to photos, the dam is full but when i went they the dam is dry? they don't keep veg and non-veg food separate

Good.

Beautiful, peaceful and quiet environment. Comfortable rooms. Good and qualified staff. We booked a family room with breakfast and dinner included, but at the hotel children were not included for dinner, which was confusing. The children's playgrounds need an upgrade. Wear and tear are visible.

Disappointing stay

Disappointing stay , basic toiletries and towels had to be requested . We asked for extra bath towels , as only one was supplied. No bbq braai facilities for hotel guests , we had to drive to a nearby resort to utilize their facilities . Major problem of ants in the room.

Impromptu get away

Lovely resort in the heart of Central Drakensberg Mountains. Stunning scenery all around. Very friendly and attentive staff at check in, restaurant and the spa. Wonderful couples massage was divine

Value for money

A place to relax with children

Our stay was very enjoyable and Gooderson Monks Cowl Resort really does cater for children of all ages and their parents. The only problem we had was with the diner as there was no `al a carte menu available and two of the children are under the age of 10 who do not eat a lot of what was available on the set menu. The price charged of R150-00 per child is really not acceptable. A childs menu should be available at a more reasonable charge or the `al la carte menu should be available for children 10 and under. Please note however, that the food on the set menu was really good.

We enjoyed the stay. The only issue was the restaurant for dinner. Unappetising meals and lack of variety. Far too costly for what was on offer.

Great for small children

It was wonderful. Service was very good, I could choose when to be in a quieter mode and when to socialize.
