Comfort Inn & Suites Near Burke Mountain

"Positives: 1. The property looks very nice when you first drive up to it. 2. It has good parking. It felt safe. 3. Every staff member that I interacted with seemed genuinely kind. 4. The breakfast buffet was very good. Challenges: 1. The pool was closed (according to the sign, it had been for a month.) 2. One of the two elevators was out of order. 3. One of the two bedside lamps was broken and hanging by the power cord beside the bed instead of being attached to the wall. 4. The thermostat did not work so we could not adjust the temperature. According to the app on my phone, it was 82° in the room. Very difficult to sleep in a room that hot. 5. There were crushed potato chips in one corner of the room, and when I pulled the desk chair out to sit in it, there were potato chip crumbs all over the chair as well. 6. The layout of the room itself was very odd. The TV was mounted in front of the bed and could not be swiveled or adjusted in any way. Therefore, you could not watch the TV from the couch, making the entire sitting area useless. The refrigerator and microwave were located on the far side of the bed instead of in the sitting area so you had to disturb the other people in the room in order to access it.. Conclusion: At one point, this clearly had been a very nice hotel. But excessive deferred maintenance, a relaxing of cleaning standards, and some type of rearrangement of the rooms from their original layout, has lowered the quality of the experience significantly. "

"A very dated property. The price was reasonable but there was a good reason. This place is in need of a total renovation. The sink didn't drain well, there were stains everywhere, and the first night we found a bed bug on the pillow, alive. It was the only one we saw over the weekend, but still pretty gross. The community microwave was underpowered and couldn't pop popcorn. It's a beautiful location, and convenient but I wouldn't stay there again. The staff tried to be helpful, and they were very nice, but the place needs a lot of work."

"The hotel itself is beautiful and very large, and overall the room and property were clean and well maintained. The staff was also friendly during my stay, which I appreciated. However, there were a couple of things that made me uncomfortable. One was that the coffee and tea were removed promptly at 6 PM even though there were barely any guests at the hotel at the time. I felt the staff could have made a small exception. My main concern, though, was security. The property is extremely large, and some areas felt completely isolated and deserted. I noticed that several exterior doors appeared to remain open from the outside, which honestly made me feel unsafe. I raised my concern to the front desk and was told that the doors remain open so guests can come back in. In a hotel of this size, I would expect those doors to remain locked from the outside and require a guest key card for entry. I also looked around for security cameras and did not notice many visible security measures. While the hotel is beautiful, that particular situation affected my sense of safety during the stay."
