My husband and I traveled with another adult. We were glad that the suite can be made into two separate rooms. This gave us privacy. The individual rooms with queen bed and bathroom made us decide to stay another night.

For the money spent…. A Lot $$$…Rooms are worn down, tired, dirty, especially the bathroom, windows were dirty, no dresser for clothes, no safe to store your valuables, no microwave or coffee machine, small fridge was so noisy, no ice machines, parking was tight, maids were very nice. Will not return.

I booked this room because it has a fireplace. I wanted a romantic evening with a fire going. This was for my guy's 50th birthday, so it was special. Unfortunately the fireplace didn't work. I was so disappointed. There is a leak on the ceiling that drips on the bathroom floor entrance so had to put a towel down so we wouldn't slip. Parking is a challenge. Sadly I would not book here again.

Fireplace was nice. Map of town was helpful. Lots of families arriving at 9 pm ish with little kids was typical noise. Nice location to sights. Tub needs updating had stains on floor. Partial view of ocean on clear day. $40 pet fee per day was steep compared to other comparable establishments in the area. Safe area. Someone vaped briefly in the courtyard which is not allowed and affected my asthma so closed windows. Parking lot is small so parked on street. No screen in the bathroom window and no plantation blinds in front window like the other rooms next to me. Next time I would book room #18 away from stair traffic as #11 was at the top of the staircase so heard everyone passing.

Check-in was easy and staff were very pleasant. Room was clean but has definitely seen better days. Bath mat was extremely stained, bed was comfortable. Lots of noise coming from adjacent rooms. I didn't love the place; I didn't hate it. It was worth the money, and there was on site parking.

We stayed because they were large dog friendly. It was nice to have a separate bedroom with 2 twin beds. It had updated decor, but parts of the building and the room were tired looking.

It’s a beautiful hotel but it’s old and needs cleaning and maintenance. One of the outlets in the bedroom I stayed, had no cover, which is very dangerous. Other than that place was very nice and quiet.

I called 6 times to tell them we’re late because of traffic. No one answered and no answering machine. I had to contact expedia. They were very helpful but couldn’t contact facility. No microwave or coffee maker in room. The coffee in the office was bad. I don’t recommend this inn

The wrought iron around the bed gave me a big bruise, I hit my leg on it like 3 times, furniture needs updated, iron also didn’t work, and no coffee or tea in the room, and the plug to the bath wouldn’t go down, it was near everything close to the beach and stores.

I have been coming to Carmel many times over many years. i like being able to walk to the downtown section at night. Carmel Wayfare has been an impressive find, nice property, reasonably priced, close to downtonw. i will make this my first stop for all future trips

No hot water or boiler available for tea or coffee during the off time of front desk in the eve. But still the duty staff on phone was very kind by suggestting to take boiled water from a gas station shop in the street. Hotel location is by the central gallery streets. Very convenient for walking.

Pros: 1. The room though fairly small and plain seemed clean, had clean towels and a refrigerator. 2. Reasonably low-priced room. 3. The thermostat-controlled fireplace did a good job of keeping the room to the temperature setting. 4. It allows pets for those that have them (not us though) Cons: 1. This is a no-frills room, no coffee-maker and very tiny complementary soaps, no breakfast in the lobby (just coffee & hot water only) and the lobby hours were limited. 2. Limited parking - there were about 7 spaces behind the hotel for at least 16 rooms. The 2 spaces reserved for registration were usually full. Street parking was 2-hours only during the day so you would need to keep moving your car when the hotel is full. 3. The building shows its age with some peeling paint so not at all fancy looking. You can hear voices and animals in neighboring rooms.

Perfect Hideaway
We love Carmel. This is the second stay and last year our nephew and his wife came and stayed here as well. This place is so nice and quiet. Close enough to everything so we never use our car. The owner is so friendly. We added an extra day and he accommodated us with no issues. We will stay again!!

The apartment was ugly and I froze all night. An absolutely horrible experience. Also terrible to subject an elderly lady with a heavy bag to many flights of stairs. I would never return.

I got very sick and was unable to make the trip. I called to cancel TWO days before my arrival, nobody answered the phone two different times I called. No voice mail. Used chat to send them a message which they didn’t respond to and when they finally called me back, they wouldn’t make an exception to cancel my reservation, therefore charging me for the room I didn’t stay in. Rude and I’ll never book a room here again.

Grime in shower wall grout needs attention. Fireplace glass and wall mounted thermostat needs attention. Walls allowed sounds of nearby voices and people walking outside our room including up and downstairs to loudly penetrate. Appreciated the kindness of the owner/manager at check in.

Carmel Disappointment
This hotel was such a disappointment. First night I noticed soiled sheets and the lock was broken, not to mention how uncomfortable the bedding was and a wine glass that sat outside our door for two days. Sign on the office door said that if you checked in after closing hours, the pet fee was $25.00. I was charged 50.00 per night for one small dog. I expected a nicer experience in this Carmel getaway.
