What a little gem. We’ve been travelling to Franschhoek for the last few years and can’t understand why we haven’t been here before. The spectacular views of the mountain range are uninterrupted from both the rooms and the pool area. It’s unpretentious but certainly delivers a unique experience.
We first stayed at Auberge Clermont in 2011 and had a fabulous time with a large family group. I've subsequently returned to South Africa several times and have not been able to get into Auberge Clermont because it was fully booked. But my persistence paid off and I was rewarded with a booking. They remembered me from way back and greeted us warmly. The location is wonderful - close in to the downtown but removed enough to be peaceful. Stunning views and spacious rooms with a delicious breakfast. Exceptional value and we feel fortunate it has stayed consistent for the last fifteen years!
We returned to The Clermot again this year and stayed in the same room. We love the peacefulness and the view from the room is stunning.
Breakfast seemed a tad disorganised this time (one day no bowls, another no jams, then no napkins)
Our room.had a patch on the ceiling that had been repaired but not painted, the large lamp.didnt work( maybe bulb needs replacing) & one of the curtains had a water.stain. Nothing major just small.things - it wouldnt stop us from returning.
Loved everything about this property. Close to town, beautiful setting with walks around the vineyard. Room was fantastic, linens and amenities all top class. Breakfast was amazing. All staff were fantastic. Would definitely recommend!
This was our second stay here. Auberge Clermont is as lovely as ever. On a small farm just a few hundred metres from the centre of Franschhoek, the location is perfect. The cottage is on the sunny side of the valley, with a beautiful outlook over the vineyards onto the mountains. The accommodation is beautiful - you could be in the best of the south of France - and the attention to detail makes it all the more special - from the complimentary bottle of Auberge Clermont wine to the flowers in the room. The delicious breakfast features Franschhoek's local smoked salmon trout on the menu. Very hard to beat. We will be back.
To enjoy a 5 star Auberge accommodation do not hesitate to book into the beautifully decorative and quaint Clermont Guesthouse, with spacious rooms and outstanding amenities.
Most definitely all tourist requirements so often taken, as to be expected, are professionally provided for. What however takes and makes this experience exceptional, is Angela and her staff’s absolute personal yet professional touch, passion and great attention to visitor requirements and beyond that (like organising an unexpected but hoped for Tuk-Tuk slow/scenic ride through the typical and close by Franschoek ambiance).
Indeed great value, thanks
My husband and I have stayed in Franschhoek many times, each time in a lovely guesthouse. But Auberge Clermont has to be the best, ticking all of our boxes.
It's location is perfect being close to town but away from the crowds, in open farmland and breathtaking mountain views. The guesthouse is beautiful, decorated with thought and style to create a secluded and relaxed environment in which you really do feel "away from it all". And Angela and Jane were perfect hosts; friendly and attentive, but extremely respectful of privacy and space.
Everyone at Clermont did their utmost to make our stay perfect - and it was. Thank you
I surprised my wife with an overnight stay to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in this beautiful auberge in its extraordinarily lovely surroundings. It's about the best location one could wish for in Franschhoek - your own little farm, with vineyards and fruit trees to wander among, and only a ten minute walk into town (but if you're visiting Franschhoek, you're probably in a car anyway). We've lived in Europe and enjoyed some of the best of France - this auberge could be set in the loveliest French countryside you could imagine.
Everything about our stay was perfect. Our hosts kindly sourced a bouquet of flowers for my wife; we drank a full bottle of their wonderful Sauvignon Blanc, made on the farm, on our terrace for sundowners; the breakfast was lovely; and our hosts were wonderful. Of course we stayed in the honeymoon suite, in an old wine cellar, and it was beautiful in every respect.
It's also perfect for families, with self-catering options, a swimming pool and tennis court, great cycling (mountain bike and road) from the gate. Fortunately, not too much accommodation available - it's an auberge, not a hotel - so one gets to enjoy the environment in peace and quiet. Can't recommend it enough.
My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights in the honeymoon suite (room 1), which is both roomy and well appointed; it's a very nice B & B. The Auberge is only a couple of minutes drive away from Francheok where there are an abundant number of good restaurants and shops. Breakfast at the Auberge was very good, and all in all it's great value for money set in beautiful surroundings.
We loved the ambience of Auberge Clermont. In all aspects this was a great place to stay. We were so sorry that our itinerary allowed us to stay only one night as we loved the place so much. It was very relaxing and the hotel environment was extremely charming and homely. We thoroughly recommend this property as a place to stay if you want a calm oasis away from noise and busyness.
Absolutely fabulous place, located just outside Franschhoek, so very quiet and peaceful. Everyone very helpful, from offering advice on restaurants, wine routes etc., to making reservations.
Would definitely return if opportunity arose
Amazing four night stay in the Villa. Great place for families. Located on a lovely vineyard in a quiet corner of Franschhoek only 3 minutes from the Main Street.
Villa is a huge 3 bedroom farmhouse with its own pool and fully furnished. Separate, private area from the other B&B guest. We spent the majority of our time and meals outside on patio enjoying the amazing views. Great place for family or friends looking for a relaxing spot.
