This is great bang for your buck! Simple accommodations but clean and with everything you need, central location in a beautiful quiet town, lots of great local food walking distance away, and beautiful secluded beaches across the road. Would definitely recommend!
The owners were accommodating, friendly and patient. Lovely little place equipped with cooking utensils (though we couldn't find cutlery). Great for what we needed.
Overall enjoyed my stay here (3 nights, in December).
Positives: The owner is very friendly and helpful, the little house was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with a stove, full-sized fridge/freezer, microwave, pots, coffee maker (Costa Rica style) and, tableware. Plenty of space with a large closet area and two beds.
It's located close enough to the National Park that I walked there one day, and walked around town for breakfast, lunch, and shopping. Parking was available off the street and behind a gate which felt secure.
Downsides: Cahuita is very hot and humid and the house does not have AC or screens on any of the windows. The water is not heated either, although that wasn't a terrible thing as I needed to cool down at the end of the day. There was also quite a bit of road noise at night from locals going by on their motorcycles/dirt bikes.
Great place with in walking distance of town, the beach and national parks. The hostess, Jose, was kind and helpful. She provides a safe and comfortable place to hang your hat while exploring the great little town of Cahuita. Monkeys and flowers right out the front door, along with hammocks, and a front porch to relax on.
