"We stayed a week and the house was exactly as described - very clean and of a decent size. There is a full kitchen, even though some of the pots and pans are a bit old. I liked how we could adjust the heating to our comfort. The host was very kind on the two occasions we met her. Overall, good value."

"Our stay was lovely, the cabin is so homely and doesnt feel like your in a cabin, its so cosy at night, decor is lovely. The owners we didnt meet but communication was good.
Only criticism would be that there is an obvious problem with mould and a few things that could do with a tweek for example rusty toilet roll holder, chipped bath tub, bathroom floor and behind the toilet gets very wet due to condensation, pots and baking trays were not clean on arrival also struggled to wash up as we...

"About Property: Tones of issues 1) House was not cleaned at all. It was full of dust and spider web everywhere. No vacuum cleaner in the house, no cleaner was available. I need to clean it all myself using mop and little brush. 2) House was super cold, Thermostat was giving some error code and later on found valves on radiator were not open 3) Coffee table was broken, it was reported months ago by another guest but no action taken. As it was remain slanted, one of its leg stay outside and it highly likely to cause injures. 3) Fireplace without fire wood/coal 4) Bathrooms had no toilet roll, no hand wash, no working lock, no toilet roll holder, wobbling toilet seat. One of the bathroom has no towel rail or hook to hang towel inside bathroom 5) In Kitchen there is no tin opener, no scissor, no ice tray in freezer 6) Back garden had over grown bushes and staircase was full of spider web, Outdoor furniture were very dirty with moss and algae on it. No one can use it. There were no cleaning at all.
About Sykes Cottages: They provided phone number but it is available during office hrs only. There is one emergency number, but you need to listen recorded message multiple time to get that number, it is recorded in speed and not given anywhere else. I booked via Hotels.com assuming it must be managed by private owner. it was no where mentioned that it is managed by some agency. It is always difficult to resolve issue if it is not directly managed by owner. Just avoid Sykes Cottages."
