Fantastic place to unplug for a while. There is no cell service, which makes it even better. The room had a fantastic view. The lodge was cozy and warm. The hemlocks are walking distance. The place is a breath of fresh air. The only issue we ran into was that the room had no trash bags - we checked every drawer and cabinet.

Quiet, comfortable rooms with beautiful views. Nice kitchen, dining and gathering area making it easy to prepare meals without having to drag out to eat. Peaceful retreat. Will definitely stay here again.

A great Place to Stay

The Eco Retreat's location is amazing. The retreat provides an awesome communal cooking arrangement steps away from the beautiful view of the Black Mountains. The location was fantastic and a great option to the standard hotel view. While there are other locations with a mountain view in the area, Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat surpasses them in the acreage of privacy and uninterrupted views of the mountains.

This property was exactly as portrayed only better. The attention to detail, friendly staff and unsurpassable view made it one of our best trips ever. Kitchen is well supplied with all cooking equipment but must bring every food item needed. Can’t wait to go back

I want to put a bad review so no one else will come find this amazing gem, but I can't! It is simply a breathtaking view! The rooms are clean and bed super comfortable. Dining room is huge and coffee/tea provided. We met some lovely couples and even shared a breakfast together one morning and stargazed too. Perfect place for a wedding or family reunion or church retreat! We will def be back again!

Amazing! It far exceeded our expectations. Super clean, comfy beds, cozy lodge with coffee, well-equipped kitchen. Beautiful property and views! Quiet and private feeling. What a find! 5 mins from Toe River, bring tubes. Highly recommend! Seriously so great!

Great cozy spot in the mountains. We really enjoyed meeting up with our travel companions in the mornings and evenings in the Main Lodge. Next time we stay we'll take advantage of the kitchen facilities but we enjoyed the hot chocolate, tea and coffee during our stay. The rooms were immaculate and adorable, beds were comfortable.

This is off the beaten path so be prepared and stock up on snacks/food before you get there. I stayed in Pisgah and the room was very spacious, ridiculously clean (cleaner than many of the nice chain hotels I have stayed at), and super cute. It came with a white noise machine that was needed as you can hear your neighbors (I heard mine snoring). There is parking right next to the cabin. WiFi worked great. The biggest *complaint* was I never saw the resident dogs. I was looking forward to petting them!

Perfect getaway

Perfect getaway location. For what it has to offer, it’s the perfect price. The community kitchen was clean and amazing. The view was beautiful, 10/10 would recommend as a solo trip or a family vacation.

Little escape

This was one of the most coziest little places I’ve been in a while. The owners were very nice and everything about the place and area was calming. We will be returning during the spring. Very kid friendly, if you love the outdoors this is the place for you. The views are breathtaking of the Mountains.

Good stay, hidden gem,

It was a family trip, loved this hidden gem, the property is very well maintained and clean, especially the rooms and the main kitchen area is awesome! Overall the owners took effort to give it an artistic touch! Overall we are enjoyed the stay, looks like hurricane and the wildfires damaged and the town is recovering well! One small recommendation to the owners is to watch the dog on property, it did scare my wife when it ran towards us, it became friendly eventually! Overall stay and service was good, would love to return again! Thanks

We loved our stay! My children had the best time playing around along with the dogs from the retreat! The room is spacious, very clean and looks brand new. We loved the decoration and the community kitchen! We will be back!
