Lovely clean refurbished room which was dark, quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was more of an unintended wet room as the size of the shower screen wasn’t adequate for the rainfall shower. There wasn’t a lot in the immediate area and we were initially slightly disappointed but the proximity to the metro station was brilliant and made the wider city accessible. Get a travel card and you can get anywhere. There is also a brilliant prima supermarket just behind the hotel if you need anything. A shortish and steep walk to the castle area - well worth doing at night for amazing views. A very minor thing would be that there wasn’t a single tv channel in English- we like a bit of BBC world but appreciate that we could have asked.

Our stay at Mercury was quite nice. We stayed 9 nights and it was convenient and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. “Castle Hill” in the name is misleading - it is not on Castle Hill but it is in the Castle Hill district. You still need to take ground transportation or climb a significant number of stairs. There is no grab bar in the shower and the design of the shower makes it difficult to take a shower without getting water everywhere. The only other feedback is that the staff had some trouble keeping the breakfast buffet stocked. The jam was hit or miss (mostly miss) as was the orange juice.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. The location is within 15 minutes walking to the university I visit and is next to a train station and supermarket which is convenient. Proximity to Castle Hill also very nice for free time. When I checked in the room smelled horribly of smoke, although it is a non-smoking hotel. I called to change the room and the attendant came up and said she could not really smell much of anything. That was very surprising! But they did change me to a different room although it took nearly an hour. I was quite surprised by that delay, too! Overall I still recommend the hotel.

We stayed five days in May 2022, hotel staff were very friendly and desk staff helpful when asked about places we wanted to visit, printing a map of our route and the buses we needed. Breakfast was nice, a good mixture of hot and cold food. Our room was nice and clean, although the room was hot but this was because the air conditioning was faulty which was repaired during our stay. The area was easy to access buses teams and trains, also not far to walk to the castle although uphill with plenty of steps. We found the hotel very good and would stay again.

Nice hotel in a good location to Buda Castle and Matthias Church. Grocery store behind hotel with atm machine...restaurants within walking diatance as well as beautiful park across the street and transportation. Never had an issue with Bolt/Taxi pickup and dropoffs. Friendly staff (except the bald guy in restaurant...perhaps manager (?) who acted like he was hating his life choices or his job.) He was so impatient and was very terse and rushed patrons....seemed annoyed to be working in hospitality However, restaurant food was good. Room was well laid out and beds were comfortable. The view from the room was nice. The only thing is our room had horrible air circulation. The AC did not work and you can only tilt the window to crack a small opening for fresh air so room got very hot. I imagine this room would be very uncomfortable in the summer season especially if the AC remained in non-working condition.

Room 642 should not be used as double room. The room is so small you can’t move if there are two suitcases and two people. The heating system could not be regulated hence the average room temperature was 28-30 Celsius- extremely hot. I was told it’s the autumn/winter heating system and nothing could be done ?? A little surprising to hear. Great breakfast and good food at the restaurant. Staff very friendly

The property was close to transportation. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was a decent size for the price. The only issue with the room was a couple of stains on the carpet but it wasn’t a big deal. Overall a great experience.

Mercure or Ibis??
Apart from check-in being a complete shambles (we arrived at the same time as a bus load of tourists), there are no other issues. Nice clean hotel and rooms spacious and nice. Breakfast was nice and the hotel is located next to all transport options making it easy to get into the centre.

I ordered 4 night, but the staff told me the order was 3 nights when I checked in. I argue with them so they said ok I adjusted your stay as 4 nights in our system. But when I checked out, they asked me to pay for the fourth night again. The cleaner wanted to clean my room at 8:00 am one day and I was asleep at that time point.

Wonderful Hotel. Rooms are spacious and good bed. It looks like the hotel was recently renovated very nicely. Everything was comfortable. Good location tona few popular sites in Budapest and close to public transportation.

Comfortable and accessible
Overall, our stay is good. Hotel room look new though the front is still under renovation. Location of hotel is also near railway station and is interlinked to tram and buses for ease of travel to the old city. The hotel staffs are also nice and friendly. However as we arrived late at night at about 2230hr, the first impression of the hotel was a let down as we have to make a detour to the side entrance with our heavy luggage that was not lighted up and uneven ground.

Perfect stay with professional staff!
Our go-to hotel in the city. Professionalism, hospitality and helpfulness is always perfect. We arrived after a long journey on a Sunday afternoon and Ali, the receptionist welcomed us at the reception area. Communication was great. The manager scheduled for that evening upgraded our room, which was a terrific experience. The superior twin was spacious enough, the mattress was super comfortable (hard enough that is very rare nowadays). We loved our stay. The check-out was super efficient, we had two luggages being delivered to us from abroad, the receptionists were more than happy to assist us with it, Ali and his colleague (a younger man with lighter hair) also called us a taxi and made sure that everything was alright. Flawless experience!

During the booking process I was told that I will get a free parking place (It is included in reservation), but after check in It turned out that there is no parking place, because the garage is being renovated. So finally I had to use external parking and pay for It (~5000HUF/day).

Not what we were expecting, hotel was under refurbishment which we wasn't informed about. However staff were friendly and helpfull . Ideal link using the metro but run down area surrounding the hotel is a bit off putting. Once inside the hotel room was spacious and comfortable.

Negatives Only 2 creams each day for your tea/coffee. Very small area by washbasin. No soap dish provided. Nothing to prevent water coming out onto bathroom floor when taking a shower. Positives Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location for metro. Lovely bar area for drinks and to relax.
