The location is perfect. It's in the upper town, which is nice and is a major bus stop for a few different lines.

How to make your trip horrible
All the photos looked amazing. However, less than 10 days before my reservation the staff told me that there was a problem and if I would like to upgrade to another accomodation. I saw the pictures, it was not so cool like this one, but it would be easier, once my trip was arriving. I sent an email saying if it was ok to arrive 1h earlier than the check in and they said yes. We already had a bad experience in the entrance. There was the back of a restaurant. The smell of food was very bad. There were a lot of chairs and tables leaning against the wall. The flat was horrible!!! Dark, very very very dirty, once they haden´t clean yet. Despite my email, the Smartflats would need much more than one hour to fix everything. I turned around and had to find another hotel under rain and cold weather. I lost a lot of money! They offered my a new stay in this accomodation. But after all this bad situation, I don't want to be there!!!

The location was very good and in general clean besides a drain issue which was rectified. However the sofa bed was in poor condition and some stains on the sheets which were gross.

Ideal location We selected this apartment for its location close to the centre of the old city and were not disappointed. From our window we could see into the Grand-Place itself. The apartment was quite simply furnished, but spacious, clean, and equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Access to the building and our flat was simple with the codes supplied by e-mail - no problems at all with that system; shops, restaurants, and bars are plentiful within short walking distance. It was also convenient to be within a few minutes walk of Brussels Central Station and the metro line at Bourse so that we could get around the city and nearby towns with the minimum of effort. We enjoyed our week in the city and would use this company again.

It was a big apartment, nice colors, good facilities and equipment. Only negative was the sleeping-sofa, it was old, almost broken and not that comfortable to sleep in. And some noise at night, but we wanted to stay central, so it was all good :)

Les entrées de l’appartement sont contrôlées avec des codes. Sans aucune raison, la veille de notre départ, nos codes ont cessé de fonctionner. N’ayant aucun moyen de rejoindre la réception par téléphone (nos cellulaires ne captaient pas), il a fallu marcher 1 km jusqu’aux bureaux de Smartflats pour faire réinitialiser les codes. Une chance que nous nous en sommes rendus compte en après-midi, alors qu’ils étaient toujours ouverts...

First of all we did not know it wasn’t a hotel. We arrived early in the rain, we could not get inside the building. We finally got a hold of someone from Smartflats they offered a lounge to leave our 6 suitcases. Me and my elderly parents has to drag our suitcases under the rain on a stone path to get to the lounge. My dad has a torn ligament in one shoulder which made me stress more. We were only going to stay for one night. We hired an Uber to take us back to the hotel. Once we got to the place it smelled terrible, we ordered an Uber for the next day at 6:30am to catch our next flight. we were ready to go at 6am still soar from pulling out suitcases the day before, but to our surprise the elevator was not working and we were on the 3rd floor. Six suitcases, with nobody to help us and we did not want to miss our flight. This was the most terrible experience we ever had. I think the idea of smartflats is okay, but they have to warn you before you book a place like this explaining what to expect if you arrive early or late and how unpersonalized it is. I will never book something like this again.

The hotel is placed at a great location - next to the Grand Place. However, a few things are lacking. There is no washing machine in the room, even though their guide book talks about it. No A/C. It was tolerable for my family in June. There was not much soap in the dispensers so we had to use our own.

This apartment was in the perfect location for our Brussels stay. We had plenty of room to spread out and the place had the right amount of charm. We could have used a set of pull out couch sheets. When requested they were out of extra linens. All in all a great place for the value.

We found the flat to be clean, spacious, well equipped with some exceptions. Access to the building and the flat was most difficult, with unclear instructions, poorly operating door access, poorly informed help desk person via phone. Person on phone could not find our reservation and kept us on phone without assistance. Other entering guests gave us lessons in access which they learned from other guests. Front door had to be pressured to operate, lift often became stuck between floors. Window shade missing in bedroom skylight, bulb missing from bedroom lamp.

The location was splendid. The ability to use SmartFlats Offices as a left-luggage facility was great. We were 3 people in a 2 bedroom flat - so it was spacious and airy. Flats 101 had a small terrace, which would be nice in summer. Downside - we had no functioning dishwasher and no alternate means of washing up because there was no plug or washing-up bowl. If we had wanted to cook this would have made the kitchen useless. We booked 2 double bedrooms - but were given a double and a twin. No-one wants a single bed when they have paid for a double! I complained about both of these issues - I got an “oh dear” response.......not great customer service. I really think they might have at least sent over a box of chocolates over as a sorry!

Great location near everything, beautiful historic buiding with balconies, cool modern decor. The only downside was being awoken at 6:00 am by really loud noise, it sounded like a nearby recycling center (trucks backing up and the sound of glass bottles). Overall, great experience, I would stay again.
