"The main reason for my 2 star rating was the unacceptable noise at night. Sounded like a immersion heater or similar going beserk. It was like trying to sleep next to a jet engine. I was in room 2. I left very early as it was so bad, I just couldn't stand the noise. The hotel wasn't too bad, but ifyou can't sleep what's the point of staying? Not recommended. I'm glad it was only one night."
"Lovely small boutique hotel near the quayside with friendly staff and nicely decorated.
Very busy with a coffee shop and restaurant on lower ground. Being one of the oldest buildings in the town it has low ceilings, steep stair cases, beams and wonky floors!
The bedrooms are spotlessly clean and our bed and pillows were very comfortable. Free WiFi, bottled water, tv, tea & coffee, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and USB plug points besides the bed are included.

"Before arriving at the property, I specifically asked whether I could have a quiet room. A member of staff responded that I would be given a room on the third floor.
The room itself was quiet, so initially I was pleased. However, the guests staying directly across the corridor had a dog, which started barking very early in the morning. As a result, getting any proper sleep was practically impossible.
I had specifically made the request for a quiet room in advance, so it was disappointing that...
"This is a lovely old fashioned-feeling, quirky hotel with a great atmosphere. It is in a great location in the heart of Totnes.
Our room was spacious and comfortable.
We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and all our meals were tasty with decent portions.
The staff members, without exception, were cheerful, helpful and welcoming.
Parking is tight with there being only a small car park so other parking options may need to be considered before arrival."
"Julie and Gary were absolutely lovely and super helpful. They helped heat up milk for our little one and were friendly the hole time. I would say I think personally found the mattresses slightly uncomfortable, may be a preference. The only true negative, so the reason it was not 5 stars for us was the shower was weak, so couldn't just stand underneath it, had to hold it over the body part to clean. Aside that, amazing place, lovely people! Thank you both."
