"The only negative i have to say is the afternoon shift female at the desk wouldn't give me time of day or acknowledge i was standing there. She seamed more interested in talking to her co-worker who was on the way out or another female."

"The front desk staff were really nice. I appreciated the warm welcome and smiles. The parking attendant was very helpful. The room was fairly clean. The conditioner was completely out in the shower. The ac didn’t seem to cool off to the temp we wanted. When I went down to the front around 9 pm after a long day at the hospital I was alarmed to hear that another customer had bed bugs in the room. Being unsettled I checked my bed and didn’t see anything but didn’t know what to look for. I could not sleep that night thinking about bugs. I then resorted to sleeping in the hospital the following night. Although staff was nice I would not stay there again. Also was told one price for the mandatory valet service and then charged more. I did resolve this with the hotel staff. I would rather a total refund for the stay due to sleepless nights worrying about bed bugs."

"The staff at the DoubleTree were great. Very helpful. We got upgraded to a larger suite, but the suite appeared to have been recently renovated and not complete. There were no dressers and the closet was small. The bed was a little worn and sunk in some in the middle. The bar area had 2 TVs, but one was playing fairly loud music with inappropriate lyrics. The bartender disappeared numerous times and did not seem concerned with the cleanliness of the bar. Morning breakfast was nice, biscuits were great. Unfortunately, they only had one person working to fill coffee, bring out extra food and cash people out. The poor woman working the breakfast was constantly busy and found it difficult to refill coffee or get us a check. The site did have a vehicle to take you into town and the driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but I just expected more from a DoubleTree hotel."

"The breakfast bar was great. The staff were professional and pleasant. The hotel has some years on it but it is well maintained. I found it interesting the it was originally part of the Citadel Military Academy. I found the architecture quite interesting. The location is great in historical Charleston. It is within walking distance of many interesting and entertaining places. Check out King Street, the Charleston Museum, the South Carolina Aquarium, and visitors center. A word of warning to folks who are challenged getting up from low seats: All the sofas, easy chairs. and the toilet in our room were all low. You sit IN them."
