"Our 3rd two night stay this year at Brighton Staybridge Suites. The room was very clean but there were maintenance issues in our bathroom. There were 2 missing tiles either side of the soak away in the middle of the shower. Sharp under foot and not hygenic. The chain on the plug in the freestanding bath was tied on with ribbon. The triangular metal fixing was missing. Easy and cheap to replace. The hand shower was leaking where it joined on to the shower head - reducing the water pressure. So I used the main shower but the huge fixed head made it difficult to keep ones hair from getting wet. Huge smell of damp when you exited our room 506 towards the lift. We were staying for 2 nights as we were attending our daughters graduation. Our dirty cups/glasses were put in the dishwasher, bathroom towels folded\replaced but our bed was not made. They do not make your bed if staying a 2nd night. Yet we paid just short of £400 for the 2 night stay. I was disappointed. Little things like that make a stay away a treat. Spoke to the assistant manager and she said everyone could find little faults in their rooms. THEN IT IS HER JOB TO SORT IT, before standards slide..."

"The room was spacious and comfortable. Good facilities - kettle, coffee maker, biscuits, hairdryer. I asked for a quiet room and the room I was given was lovely and quiet. The only negative I have is that I requested an early check in. It's a real shame that the staff are only able to tell you if the request has been granted is when you turn up an hour early. Would be much more helpful to know some hours in advance."

The Old Ship Hotel

The Old Ship Hotel

8/10 Good
"Hotel is being refurbished so only part available. From the outside you wouldn't know it was a hotel as all covered up with scaffolding. However the location to everything is superb and the staff are very welcoming. Our room was on first floor with sea view so quite close to everybody passing. Room had everything we needed and bed was clean plus shower functioned well. It can be quite noisy with traffic and people passing but earplugs are provided if needed. There is no air conditioning which will probably become a must but there are ceiling fans in most rooms I believe which was really helpful. At the moment everywhere is “tired” but imagine refurb will improve. Unfortunately the hotel toilets were not clean at all this would put us off eating anything. It is Brightons oldest hotel hopefully the refurb will improve everything. For our purposes of just wanting somewhere to sleep we will definitely go back as hopefully things can only improve."
