A stay at April Cottage is a like stepping back to a time where everything’s real and comfortable and old-from the heavy oak beams to the inglenook and carved sofas, the family photographs and ornaments, the piano corner and the dining table beautifully laid for breakfast, with linen napkins and an array of traditional English breakfast choices. Steve was attentive and friendly -a wonderful host. My room was spacious and comfortable, with a great ensuite-unusual for a character property. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to everyone seeking an authentic taste of English life.
I was lucky & had the whole cottage to myself. It’s a very quaint 400 years old cottage in the beautiful & peaceful Wiltshire countryside. Very homely & comfortable. Steve was very welcoming & provided a delicious English breakfast. I highly recommend this stay & look forward to returning in the future. Great value!
We were enchanted by the warmth and comfort of this lovely cottage. We arrived on a very cold afternoon, and stepped into another world.
We were welcomed and shown to our room which was quaint and warm and inviting.
Our host gave us good advice on where to have an evening meal.
The bed was comfortable and the towels were large and fluffy.
Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented.
The cottage is situated in beautiful surroundings and we hope to return some day for a longer stay.
Cannot fault my stay, such a welcoming host and a lovely property. Full English breakfast included! Was only staying for the one night but will definitely return in the future
Property's decoration and furnishings suited the era of the propery and was really homely and lovely and warm. Plenty of hot water. Lovely comfortable bed.
Host welcomed us at the property. Lovely selection of choice for breakfast which was well cooked.
Lovely 16th century cottage that we had to ourselves as no host on site and no other guests. Surrounded by fields so lovely views, but access a little tricky down a single track road.
Accommodation was very comfortable with everything we needed and loads of character. Very comfortable bed and large en suite.
Delicious breakfast cooked by lovely Pat.
Overall, extremely good value for money. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway.
I loved staying here! It was exactly what I needed. Peace and quiet and a nice cosy fire.
Steve is very accommodating and kind. I felt so at home and really didn’t want to leave. I’ll be staying again!
Thank you!
This is a beautiful cottage, set in gorgeous countryside. Steve was an excellent host. The room was large and comfortable, the bathroom was also spacious and the water was very hot. The included breakfast was excellent, cooked breakfast made to order, all ingredients were very tasty and fresh from the local farm shop.
Beautiful property in a quiet area. Owner was very helpful and we had a great breakfast.

The property itself was very pretty and for the price we paid it was worth it. However, I found the place very unclean, the limescale on the kettles was very unpleasant and off putting. The shower needed an update and a good clean, it sprayed in every direction other than at you. We pulled on one of the curtains to close them and found several spiders that had clearly been there a while. I appreciate it’s an old building so the odd spider I would have let go but it should be a lot cleaner than it was.
The bed was comfortable and the house itself was very warm for the time of year, both me and the person I was with slept well. Plenty of towels were provided and lots of books if you wanted to read.
In cases of arriving in the dark I do think they should have written instructions on how to get there as it felt really dangerous driving down single track lanes not knowing at all where we were. As there’s a specific safe way to get there that is not made clear.
What a delightful gem, full of character, great location in the countryside, comfortable and a fabulous breakfast prepared by Pat who was lovely, will be back
The only problem with this is that this is located in fields and was scared to death as no one at property and everything is self-service. Only stay if you are not scared of staying all alone in no man's land.
The room was cosy, the bed was comfy and the shower was amazing. It was also nice and quiet as we were in the middle of nowhere!
However, we did have lots of cobwebs in our room and a rather large spider for company.
I wasn’t that impressed with the breakfast as no alternatives were offered but my boy did like it.
Didn’t find the hosts particularly friendly!
My car also got boxed in so struggled getting my car out!
Excellent location, host and views. Such a relaxed vibe, due to the brilliant owner, who made you feel at home straight away. Definitely going back and would recommend to anyone.
The histiric cottage, views, breakfast and host Steve are all exceptional and we would have very happily stayed for longer if it fitted in our holiday plans. It is very a welcoming place and we were fortunate our trip coincided with some of his lovely family visiting him.
Note if considering booking you need to be able to use stairs.
An absolutely lovely old building and I loved the books collection in the lounge and our room. It was warm and cosy and the conservatory is a lovely place to sit and relax. Also the lounge a lovely place to sit with a cup of tea and watch a bit of TV. It's in a quiet peaceful location and the host made us welcome and cooked us a lovely breakfast. Al in all a wonderful stay and when we can save some money, we will be back !
