"The only downside was breakfast only one staff member to take order and cook as well which meant the self service area was not restocked so there was no juice or cutlery left so had to improvise. Area very small had to move table backwards and forwards to get legs under table from both sides. Long wait for breakfast and only one piece of toast would be better with 2. Plus side excellent coffee machine fresh coffee flavoured syrups and able to choose type of coffee. Bar well equipped friendly staff and very reasonable on price"
"Great location for an overnight. Friendly staff and warm welcome at check in. Breakfast wasn’t as good as I’m used to. Room was tired and pillows need refreshing as they were clumpy and uncomfortable, which impacted on sleep"
"Very little parking available and £10 per night. But on street parking a few minutes walk or 4pm to 10am on the square in front. Not a problem.
Fabulous location, probably the best in Richmond town. Lovely characterful building.
Pricy and breakfast extra. Greggs or Wetherspoons nearby!
My issue was with a premium room, 205. One set of curtains couldn’t be opened or fully closed. And window couldn’t be opened due to lack of maintenance.
Main problem was the mattress. Unbelievably bad. It was probably very soft when new but by now it was squashed to half its original thickness. Terrible sleep. I’ve had better mattresses in $10 Central American hostels.
It’s 29 years since I last stayed and despite the staff denials the mattress felt like it had been in service for longer. Staff excuse ‘we don’t sleep here so didn’t know’. Not good enough. A simple room condition inspection would have identified that.
Potentially great but do the maintenance.
