Decent but could be better

Decent place: pros: sizable rooms, neat. Cons: getting a bit old. Not a major issue but for the price, one would expect a place in a slightly better condition especially the bathrooms. I hesitated to give 4 stars because of that. A more appropriate rating would be 3.5.

Great location. Patchy service.

Warm welcome by a single receptionist although they had allocated us- a family- two rooms at either end of the hotel and we had to pay 300R extra to have our rooms on the same side. Breakfast service was slow and haphazard. It’s a good location.

Poor service

The staff member at reception was helpful, although my room was not yet ready. I was asked to return at 11H00 as the previous guest has not booked out yet. When I returned at about 12h00 the guest had still not booked out and I was assigned a different room (Room # 4). I have no idea how this new room compared to what I have booked. I enquired at reception about an early breakfast at 6H30 as they only service breakfast from 7h00. I was assured that this would be no problem, and that they would prepare an “English” style breakfast as the buffet breakfast only starts at 7h00. At about 19H40 I went to the dining room to have dinner. I walked around the dining room but none of the Staff attended me and eventually I ask a lady if I could sit anywhere. After about 10 minutes, another lady finally came to take my order although a number of staff was looking at me but choose to ignore me. The service was poor and very unprofessional for a Hotel of that stature. The next morning I came to the breakfast area at 06h25 as arranged, and was told by a staff member that breakfast is only from 7h00. I explained that I made an arrangement for an early breakfast, but was rudely told breakfast is only from 7H00. I then went to reception and checked out and asked for my money for the breakfast back. The lady at reception who was present at the day and tome I checked in, tried to rectify the problem, by I was by now to upset and opted to leave.

Tolles Frühstück und gute Lage.

Seht gut gelegen, tolles Frühstück. Soweit alles super. Die Zimmerreinigung sollte jedoch genauer hinschauen. Bei uns im Schrank stank es stark nach Urin. Offenbar hatte ein Gast vor uns eine Bettdecke mit Urin verunreinigt und das merkte das Putzpersonal komischerweise nicht.

This used to be a great venue with great surroundings but alas it is not any more. The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on and no lunch or dinner is served here any longer.
