Fantastic Georgian country house, most comfortable bed I’ve slept in when away from home. Host is knowledgeable about surrounding area and is very attentive.

We spent a lovely day here and Angus is a fantastic host - very knowledgable and helpful. The room was beautiful and we had a great breakfast the next day. Can highly recommend. Set in fantastic countryside about 10 mins drive from Berwick-Upon-Tweed town.

This is a lovely home and the owners do a great job at creating warmth and comfort for their guests. We had such scrumptious breakfasts, with meat from local producers and eggs cooked to perfection. Our bed was comfy and all was quiet and peaceful.

The owners were excellent hosts very friendly and accommodating. The property is situated in an ideal location to visit the local attractions. The room was very spacious as is the en-suite bathroom. It is furnished with antiques in keeping with the period the house was built

Genteel & luxurious

The Gables is everyone's home away from home! It's the most beautifully appointed home, the very epitome of genteel luxury and Angus and Claire couldn't be better, warmer and fantastic hosts. Their hospitality, care and warmth were wonderful and their attention to detail legendary! We are already planning when we can go back!

We had a lovely short stay at the Gables. It was a brilliant base from which to explore Northumberland and the borders. We were looked after very well by our host.

Great host and location

Lovely 3 night stay. Room and breakfast was first class. Angus was a fabulous host and the house was beautiful and in a great location. You won't be disappointed with your stay at the Gables. We'll be back in the future. Thanks Angus.

Amazing place to stay. The highlight of the stay was Angus the owner. What a wonderful gentleman he is, chatty, helpful, makes you feel like you are part of his own family. Breakfast scrumptious, sourced from the local farm and butcher. Couldn't ask for better food. Overall top marks, will definitely come back here.

One of the nicest B&B we have ever stayed at. The house was previously a priory and has been beautifully refurbished. The room and bathroom were very large and meticulously clean and excellent amenities. The owner/host Angus is extremely helpful, accommodating and eager to make it a personal experience. Breakfast was perfectly cooked, ample and featured locally sourced food - delicious. Normally only milk is provided with the excellent coffee but when Angus learned that we usually have cream with it, he specially went out to get us cream for our next day breakfast. If you wan tit we suggest you let him know ahead of time and any other special needs and I believe he will accommodate you.

Best ever.

We had an amazing time. We were only there for one night as an overnight stop on our way up Scotland. But would stop longer next time we are passing through. We highly recommend it. Everything is just perfect. Best b&b we have ever stopped in.

The rooms at the Gables are spacious and beautifully decorated. From when you arrive, Angus makes this stay a delight. Tea and cake when you arrive and more breakfast than you can possibly want. We will certainly stay here again!

We had the most comfortable nights sleep in one of their lovely rooms, and breakfast was amazing , such a choice and freshly made to order for you. Angus and Claire were very nice people and made sure you had everything that you wanted, their house is amazing and we will definitely stay there again.

Elegant B&B

Approximately 10 miles out of Berwick-upon-Tweed, but well worth the journey. A very friendly welcome from Angus, with tea and cake, into his elegant home. Very large, comfortable bedroom with separate, private bathroom. Out in the countryside, so very quiet. Breakfast was excellent. The only downside was that the fact that he only accepts cash or cheque, which was not easily found on the booking website, so a trip back into Berwick was necessary. Do not trust your satnav to get you there - just keep driving on the road out of Berwick towards Duddo and it is on the left next to the Church.
