The Drumbeg Hotel

"Very welcoming and friendly. Superb food and wonderful view from the dining area. No deer on show for us just a badger strolling down the road. As others have said either route to the hotel is challenging if you are not a confident driver but well worth it. If you want modern and pristine this is not the place for you but it is clearly a labour of love for the couple that run it and we loved it."

"Stayed in a twin room which came with a sink and shared bathroom facilities. Lovely location. The staff were very friendly and there was lots of information on local walking routes. Well stocked shop and a nice simple breakfast which we hadn't expected."

"We pitched up on a dull afternoon and were delighted with our room. Spacious and with a bathroom with a bath. The chef was sick so we decided having a few options to have some food in the room and enjoy the tv. A nice tray was brought up with soup and cold meats focaccia etc. All very nice in the circumstances."

"The Strathy Inn is the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying with friends - extremely hospitable ones! It doesn’t look much from the outside and is not in one of the bigger villages but the rooms are very clean, cosy and comfortable and have everything you need. The bed was one of the best we’ve slept in on our trip around North Scotland. Meals are also home cooked and delicious. I would highly recommend a stay here."

"What a place to stay at Garvault House! It's literally in the middle of nowhere, no light pollution and views of pure wilderness for miles around- amazing location. Food provided was very tasty and dinner becomes a very social setting where everyone is on the dining table, although you can sit privately next door if you wished! Rooms could do with a bit of modernising albeit not too much to take away from the charm of this 'off grid' location. No TVs either, but WiFi and phone signal still good if that bothers you during your stay"
