We had to leave the hotel at 1.00 in the morning and drive home! There was so much noise - coming from the adjoining building. Loud music, people singing to the music at the top of their voices, running up and down the stairs unbelievable. Left the key in a tray at reception where there was already another key so clearly someone else had the same problem. I understand that the hotel has been sold to a local school/college who take over in Sept 24 to run as part of the establishment. It would appear that the hotel is being run down. I have never before been asked on my arrival what I would like to order for breakfast including tea or coffee! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. In my view Expedia need to remove this one from it's book as an option!

Disgraceful and shocking.
Well we didn’t actually stay. We checked in went to our room no.9 and was absolutely astonished the state of it. Had a very horrible vibe about the whole place. Looked filthy and stank. My husband has COPD and once we noticed the black mould and damp around the windows we checked into another hotel. Took lots of photos and found ground in dirt on skirting boards window ledges and around the shower unit. We live ina spotless house so expect the same standards in places we stay. I’m astounded how people have rated this hotel exceptional as the only thing we found exceptional was the pathway out of there. This is a true and honest review. Think we were the only guests checked in and once we see the state of the place we realised why. Think some of the reviews are made up and dishonest. If everyone gave their honest opinion it may give the hotel staff a kick up the arse to improve the place. Hotels.com need to go and check up on these properties to stop people wasting good money on this hotel. When I mention staff we only see one member it was like a ghost town. Please don’t waste your money booking this hotel.also chairs in room ripped. Meant to be 24 hours service but as we were leaving he asked us what time we will be back as he didn’t want us to wake him up so how is that 24 hours service. Also the tatty piece of paper needs to be updated. Goodness knows how many people have touched it

very good value for money...but a warning for some looking for a quiet retreat....the Hotel specialises in weddings so make sure you pick the right dates!

Comfortable old fashion room but property lacks atmosphere. Property falls between functions and hotel and currently seems to be focused on former. Very quite and peaceful 3 day stay with staff friendly.

Our weekend away!
Staff were lovely and very friendly and very accommodating and helpful. Ceiling has some damp in it above our bed but The hotel was very clean through out and felt safe with the covid situation at the moment. Lovely big powerful shower as well which is amazing (can’t stand a shower that’s only a trickle) Beautiful surroundings and groundA. Could imagine it a perfect setting for a wedding for someone.

Generally ok
Generally ok but a few irritations e.g.the shower very fiddly to use, breakast mushrooms seemed to be tinned. Room itself was fine and hotel set in lovely countryside.

Good quiet clean. COVID has caused some restrictions which took away some of the pleasure of the stay - but this cannot be helped by the hotel. Staff was good helpful. Overall a good stay.

Nice hotel in the country
The hotel is situated rurally just outside the famous town of Battle. You really need a vehicle to get anywhere. The hotel was excellent value for the price. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast nice in the morning. What more could you ask for? We stayed for a friends wedding. Otherwise I reckon it would have been more or less empty. I would however still recommend this hotel and would stay again. Thank you.

Fösta och sista besöket
Trist hotell. Trist reception och mottagande. Allmän oordning tycktes råda och hotellet kändes illa skött. En stor förpackning toalettpapper stod i trappan upp till rummen från eftermiddag ankomstdagen till förmiddagen avresedagen. Få gäster men trots att endast ett rum till var bokat fick vi rummen bredvid varandra. Ett ganska högljutt sällskap (förtrupp till bröllop dagen efter) och vi blev tyvärr placerade vid frukostbord intill varandra - trots att det fanns gott om plats. Bestående minnet av frukosten var att det fortfarande högljudda sällskapet och draget från den ständigt öppna terrassdörren (de turades om att gå ut och röka). Fanns ingen anledning att trycka ihop så få gäster. Hemska sängar men ett fint badrum. Enda positiva var den vänliga servitrisen som hade hand om frukosten. Receptionisten var amatörmässig.
