"We received a very warm welcome from the owners, even though we arrived later than planned. We were able to enjoy a toasted sandwich in the peaceful garden. The house itself has been beautifully renovated, and the rooms are decorated with great care, maintaining the old style yet offering all the modern conveniences. The breakfast was delicious, with fresh rolls, homemade jam, and lemonade. A place to return to!"

"Excellent hotel, great breakfast. Park in their garage for 7 E per night or free on the main street 5 min. away. Not much to see or do in Costs Nova but you are on the ocean and only 12 min away from Central Averio. If you think you can sit on the beach don't count on it; the winds are extremely strong most of the time. Still , it's a great spot to stay and get away from the bustle of the city which has plenty of parking, most of it free. Beds in this hotel are descent."

The rooms were very clean and well maintained, with daily cleaning service that made our stay even more comfortable. The location is stunning, surrounded by nature and peaceful countryside, with lovely farm animals adding to the charm. "Although we read mixed reviews, we decided to stay at this unique hotel — and we are so happy we did. Upon arriving, we received a warm welcome and a short guided tour explaining the history of the place. Our room was very nice, and the bathroom was very big. We had to work in the evening, and the new Wi-Fi installed a few weeks ago was very strong and perfect for us. The palace is surrounded by a big forest and a garden, with many options for hiking. The restaurant was a bit expensive, but...

"This is a giant, rambling old mansion that has been converted into lodging. I wish we'd had more time to discuss its history with our host Maria. We wound up here because our original choice had a fire, and we had to find a place at the last minute. We were here to tour the university and it's about a 25 minute hike. In the end, our room was comfy, cool and quiet, and that's what's important to us. BTW, Uber works really well in Coimbra."

"Awesome boutique hotel next to the University of Coimbra. The decor followed the theme of literature and knowledge. The courtyard was great. Nice restaurant and breakfast buffet. Only note is that the rooms have 3 steps up from the sitting area to the bed, so not for the mobility impaired. Rooms are spacious, have a kitchenette in the room, and awesome views of the city."
