"The Shakespeare is very much a funky "character hotel", and it's 100+ year history shows in good and less so ways. Anyone who has stayed in Paris knows what a 4 storey walk up is like - all those stairs can be a challenge, especially with luggage. But the "vibe" is very cool, and it's all the old architectural details that make it such a unique experience. The excellent in-house kitchen and brewery made for very good dinners and tasty beers, and thestaff were nice, especially manager(?),...

"Our rooms were very nice, modern and clean. We had booked a room with 3 bedrooms. It’s was spacious, each bedroom had its own bathroom and one bedroom was in its own mini suite with separate entrance. The beds were comfortable and the location is right downtown within easy walk to everything including restaurants, shopping, Sky Tower, University etc. "

"Good location. Clean facility. Horrible aesthetic. The lighting in the room was bright and overwhelming. The room was tiny and claustrophobic and the bathroom felt like an airplane bathroom. By the time I left I was overcome with existential dread. I stayed here to decompress from a 13 hour flight but I felt like I never left the airplane."

"we were in and out for the ed sherin concert. didnt get to use the facilities as had to head home for 9am start at work. The hall way made us feel dirty but it was really just that it needed a paint and refresh. The room itself was fine and no frills but perfect for what we needed. "

"Rooms are spacious, bed does split in the middle when you’re laying on it or do any big movement, though is super comfy. Blinds are not black out, you still see light coming through the middle gap or sides. The common areas are really nice. Staff are welcoming and free parking available on the road right outside hotel if you’re not wanting to pay for parking. "

"Good location for exploring Auckland. Close to many landmarks, the ferry docks and multiple restaurants. While the lobby was stark and poorly decorated, the room was very comfortable, with a small refrigerator, microwave, basic dining utensils and dishes. Very comfortable bed.
Housekeeping was unreliable and had to be requested in advance. Employees at the front desk provided items such as toilet paper and instant coffee that housekeeping forgot to provide with no questions asked.
