Fantastic location, cosy and the staff were lovely. We booked the single rooms and they were very comfortable, good bathroom and gorgeous outlook. Great value for the area. Easy parking. Highly recommend. Try the cute movie theatre next door - perfect after a days hiking.

Warm welcome. Friendly and attentive staff. Tasty breakfast and clean rooms. Towels exchanged every day, same for coffee and room tea station. Good restaurant nearby but on the expensive side. There's limited parking available in front of the building. However, there's an alternative parking lot just a 2-minute drive down the road, and the owner provides a free parking permit. Please note that the WiFi is currently not functioning.

Excellent place to stay in Ambleside with clean cosy rooms and friendly staff. They were very accommodating to my request of a slightly earlier breakfast as I had to be out early doors. Would recommend staying here & will definitely be back!

Ambleside was our favorite place visited in England. Beautiful place. The hotel is right next to a fabulous church. Lots of places to walk, shop or eat. Staff was so very nice and the included breakfast was extremely good. I recommend this hotel most strongly. Just awesome.

Really good

Very friendly staff, great location with parking, very good breakfast. Room was good, although the TV was a little outdated, minor considering the location but notable. Shower was also just a dribble. Otherwise a great stay.

We’ve probably been spoilt by the modern world where we expect more from this kind of bed and breakfast places. The bread is like cardboard so it was difficult for me to swallow. Bacon quality was not good and was hard and difficult to chew. Hash brown is never my thing — feels like McDonald’s breakfast. Quality of the meat of the sausage was mediocre. So breakfast was only so-so. We were being put on the top floor, which has probably got the best view of the town. Never worked out how to watch the tele. You cannot cast your phone onto the tv to watch Netflix or anything, so you need to go watch a movie at the nearby cinema if you want entertainment at night (as the town sleeps early). Bed was too soft for my liking - whenever my partner moves I can feel it — not the kind of mattress I’m used to. The toilet is super small with a tiny shower — problem is the mould on the tiled wall. I am afraid of touching it when I showered but it’s difficult to avoid it as the shower is only about 3 feet by 3 feet. I don’t think a 200 pound human can easily fit inside. Also the mirror was fixed at my shoulder height so I need to bend down if I need to use it. There was no facial tissues available in the room so if you’re used to using facial tissues you need to bring your own. The ladies who did the cleaning up of the breakfast area looked so unhappy that one feels that they were forced to work there for the money. I would not personally come back to this particular B&B.

Had a lovely stay in The Gables and would definitely return. Couldn’t say one bad thing about anything, the room was beautiful and so clean, had everything we needed. Our breakfast was also lovely, as were the owners/staff. Couldn’t recommend it anymore!

Short but friendly and comfortable stay

Very welcoming and friendly; efficient COVID setup which worked well. Really liked the cooked breakfasts and many thanks to the breakfact team for looking after me so well. Good location; <5 minutes walk into Ambleside town centre with lots of restaurants etc, and straight onto Loughrigg Fell via the churchyard and Rothay Park. Only minor quibble is the lack of assigned parking (very small car park, but there are some spaces outside the entrance which are available on a first come first served basis. Would definitely stay here again.
