The staff was brilliant, I recommend staying here for kawasan falls canyoneering and book directly in this place, we had an amazing private tour for only 1100 pesos each and lasted abour 3-4h with food and water also. Much better than a group as we could take amazing photos and they took us early to avoid the crowds.
The hotel room was clean and there is air con (bit noisy). The tv only has 1 channel but tbh we were too tired to be watching it.
Also the wi fi is not free as advertised, there is a machine 5 pesos gets you 1h of wi fi but doesnt reach the rooms (this didn't bother me im on holidays not to be on the phone).
The beach outside of the property is not really a swimming beach, more for the view. Malboal is about 30min away by bike or bus (just flag a yellow bus is like 32 pesos per person soooo cheap) and there are plenty of beaches there.
We really had a pleasant stay in Matutinao Beach and Cottages. Staff were very accommodating, rooms are clean, nice front beach view. They assisted us with everything. The food was great. We love the vegetable lumpia so much. You can also book your canyoneering experience with them. They made everything convenient for us. Location was perfect, as it is situated near the exit of Kawasan falls (Although, you will begin your spelunking/canyoneering experience in Badian) We were assigned to kuya Elmer for the spelunking. He's helpful and patient especially with those who are afraid of heights. He will even jump with you if you're too scared. We will come back here again.
Matutinao Beach is probably the best accommodation to enjoy the renowned canyoneering at Cebu. The property is literally 5 min walking distance to Kawasan falls. The oceanfront rooms are recently remodeled and very clean. The hotel has a restaurant on-site for authentic filipino food.
By the far the best perk about this property is the incredible canyoneering experience offered for hotel guests. You get a discounted rate for staying at this property. I highly recommend Matutinao Beach, and their amazing canyoneering tour guide James.
