Lovely and special place. Beautiful art nouveau building and full of art work. Nice touch to have some single malt whiskey in the rooms.

I was taken aback by how quiet the surrounding area was. The only noises you could hear, were the sheep and an occassional car going by. Kate and Emma were amazing on ensuring that everything was running according to plan. The food was very tasty and it was nice to interact with other guests during the meals. We met people from all around the world. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Can't wait to visit again!

Lovely staff, disappointing accommodation
The location is stunning and i think in times past the hotel would reflect that. To start with a positive the staff are really lovely. So friendly and welcoming. They let us book in early and stay longer on the departing day as the road was closed. Which was extremely kind of them. The cooked breakfast was amazing. Generous portions and plenty hot coffee and fresh fruit. Nothing was a bother to them and they made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately the hotel felt quite run down. Unusual musty smell in the lounge and the room we stayed in was very disappointing for the cost. Very dated furniture thats seen better days. The bed was comfortable but the frame must be from the 80's and worn looking. We had a View onto the roof which was disappointing as it was such a beautiful location. The main thing that repelled me was the huge stains on the carpet. I felt i needed to keep my shoes on. It was quite grubby and the stains were large. The bathroom was lovely and very clean, although both my husband and i almost fell while having a shower as the bath surface was so slippy. It would be dangerous for a child or older person i feel. The cost of the hotel is expensive. I dont mind paying when i feel its worth it but the accommodation was far from worth the price. The staff really were lovely though and went above and beyond with their customer service.

Dear Gwen - thank you for your review and I am so sorry that you were disappointed with our accommodation. The musty smell in the lunge is due to our fire smoking so much as we have discovered a birds nest on the chimney pot and now in the process of fixing that problem.Regarding your room - the room you were allocated should not have been in use but if I could call you on your mobile number I can explain fully and offer you some kind of recompense.

Nice quiet location. The staff were so helpful due to a local cycle race. They were very accommodating meeting our needs. Room was well appointed and comfortable.

The manager went above and beyond to make mine and my wee boys stay wonderful. We had a brilliant stay and were made to feel welcome and cared for by all. I would highly recommend this hotel, it is beautiful. We will be back, thank you so much

The hotel is a beautiful Arts & Crafts building which retains all its original features. The public rooms are very pleasant places to relax. The hotel is undergoing a change of ownership and currently does not have a chef so no evening meals are offered. This was a disappointment, but the manager Gabriel (who will remain under the new ownership) was absolutely wonderful and did all he could to look after us. As others have mentioned in their reviews, he drove us on the two night we were there to alternative restaurants in Aberfeldy to make up for the lack of hotel dining. Breakfasts are still available though and were excellent. This hotel should have a great future under its new ownership, particularly if Gabriel stays as manager and a new head chef is appointed.

The host was fantastic, the setting is lovely. Quiet and pretty, library and sitting room well stocked with games, books, maps. Room was spacious, breakfast was good.

A Show Stopper
This hotel is an utterly exceptional find. The manager is possibly the most professional we have ever known. Lying up one of the most beautiful valleys in Scotland, the wonderfully peaceful atmosphere is broken only by birdsong and the gentle bleating of lambs. It is just yards from the oldest tree in Europe (a beautiful yew) and possibly the world. The enchanting village church is immediately opposite. Our substantial Scottish breakfast was delicious. The entire property was appropriately and tastefully, rather than trendily, decorated - but if you are seeking glitz and bling then do keep looking. The staff were, however, the highlight of our stay and could not have been more charming, accommodating or welcoming. At weekends, an informal gathering of local musicians often takes place in The Ewe bar and we were treated to some jolly, emotive and world-class music. All were welcome to join in; with or without instruments. It is well worth adjusting one’s route northwards to allow for a stay here. It you are either new to or a seasoned fan of Scotland, then you need venture no further.

Quiet, comfortable yet well connected with the local community (Friday night singalong in the public bar, not a disturbance to us). Manager Gabriel coped magnificently with the unexpected non-appearance of his newly-recruited chef, arranging dinner for us in an Aberfeldy restaurant and providing transport in and out of Aberfeldy

Outstanding service
A beautiful country hotel. Room was clean and decorated in a style suited to the building. Unfortunately we had to leave due to a family situation and cannot rate the the comfort or meals. However the owners offered to resell our room and not charge us, which was a really generous offer. Outstanding service!!!!

The Fortingall Hotel is an excellent venue for a visit to Glen Lyon. The hotel is very comfortable and very clean and is in beautiful and tranquil location. The staff are extremely helpful and the service is excellent. The restaurant is of the highest quality and the food and wines were delicious. First class.

Remote historic inn.
Historic inn with large rooms. Very quiet- almost too quiet and isolated. Friendly staff. Unremarkable food served in large portions.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful spot.
Lovely hotel. Staff seemed a bit frazzled at times but very pleasant. Quirky and original decor. Room comfortable, bathroom spacious and modern. Complimentary water/dram a nice touch. Food delicious. Dining room a bit chilly in the morning. Breakfast excellent! We will return. A DBB rate would be a big draw.

We had a fantastic weekend. This is a great wee hotel that I'd highly recommend. Pros: Great food. Very helpful and friendly staff. The Friday night music session in the bar. The cosy fire in the lounge on Saturday evening. The complimentary dram in the bedroom. Cons: Nothing much to speak of, these are very minor nits. A few clanking noises from the plumbing and the bed was ok but not super comfortable.

Lovely hotel in a scenic area
This was our fourth stay in this lovely hotel and it will not be our last. The owner is on site to make guests welcome and the whole building has been beautifully decorated to reflect a hunting lodge. The food is very tasty and well presented. Special mention for the little snug bar with open log fire and locals coming and going.

Nice country hotel
A welcoming and comfortable country hotel. We enjoyed an excellent dinner, breakfast was also good. Beautiful surroundings in a quiet location, lovely walks nearby.

It is a fascinating old building, with some very pleasant updates, mainly in the bathroom. Wifi is slow and erratic, but sometimes useable, and the breakfast is better than you might expect, but pass up the dinner which is overpriced and small and not very good.. Most of the staff was very sweet and wanted to be helpful, which helped make up for their inexperience and weak English skills. The setting is stellar. The owner acted at times like she'd like to engage us in conversation, but couldn't really sustain for more than a couple sentences...maybe she's secretly shy, or maybe she is a little burnt out with hospitality. She's done a great job overall with the place.

Lovely old building in peaceful setting.
Situated not far from the eastern end of Loch Tay in a peaceful, out-of-the-way setting Fortingall is a solid old building. The interior was nicely decorated and full of character. Our dog-friendly room and spacious bathroom were clean and comfortable. We ate in the Ewe bar which was cosy and the whole brief experience was friendly and enjoyable.
