Large, clean room with a good breakfast made by friendly owners. Excellent price and walking distance from the center. Be aware that some rooms have shared bath and payment is cash or check only.

Nigel and Lynn were the perfect hosts. Very welcoming and always available to help. The room was clean and fully serviceable. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommend for a pleasant stay in York.

Very pretty outside property parking available to rear private. rooms tired require updating but acceptable but the owners made up for it lynn lovely try really hard the only other thing was not having a key to let ourselves in felt bad they had to wait up for us. Breakfast good and accommodated what we liked

Hosts were lovely. Apartment was clean but could definitely benefit from modernisation. Also, as it faces into the main house and garden sometimes it doesn’t feel particularly private, especially when exiting from the shower!

Lovely host, very friendly and helpful. She and her husband are very nice persons. Breakfast was very good. There is a market next to the property. And the center is very close. Everything was very clean. We will stay again and recommend. Good value for the money. Thank you for every detail.

Flying visit.
Very welcoming hosts, comfortable rooms and close to the city walls and river plus a fantastic breakfast. It has rooms at the back with private access but may not suit younger guests who want to be out most of the night to stay in the main building as the hosts have to let you in. Overall a very pleasant stay for myself and my wife.

Great stay
Lynne and family were sooo helpful. Even on the day we left, we were staying in the city for the day, so they helped us find parking for our car. This was fabulous. They were flexible, accommodating, friendly and overl great. Thank you Lynne and family.

Easy to find, walking distance to city was convenient only 10 minutes. The hosts were very friendly and delivered a Good cooked breakfast. Looking forward to booking another weekend stay

Lovely B&B great staff!
The B&B was well appointed, nice and clean with comfy beds. We were in room 2, a family room which had a separate bathroom across the hall (which had been noted to us at the point of booking) which was helpful.

Totally worth it
Very pleasant stay. The location is really good, close to the river and its beautiful surroundings, but also very close to the city center. You cannot get anything better at this price. I will totally recommend this B&B to my friends.

Lovely stay.
Me and my partner needed somewhere cheapish to stay in York. We found this B&B as one of the better priced places to stay and booked in. When you arrive there is parking around the back of the B&B for the Spar shop. Once you have settled into the B&B they open their personal parking for you to have a private car parking space. The outside of the B&B is beautiful, with a well looked after garden. Depending on which room you are given, (we was given the outside annex) there is an Annex outside attached to the house with a shared toilet. The room was okay, best way I could describe it is out of date. Cobwebs were found, with a lot of dust about. Window wouldn’t close fully, and the TV didn’t work. The positives are that the bed was comfortable, the distance to York centre is about 15minutes walk, and the host was lovely. Lynne was a very friendly host who tried to help us with everything. The breakfast was also delicious, and is provided the next morning.

Thank you for the review. There was no tv due to the fire at the Billsdale transmitter site as explained at the time. Any minor cleaning issues have been addressed and we have plans to update a room in the annex in the future.

Great little B&B
A lovely traditional B&B/Guest House, 10 minutes walk from York city centre (15-20 minutes if you take the picturesque walk along the River Ouse). Lynne and Nigel were very welcoming, and couldn’t do enough to help. The room was clean and tidy, with brew tackle on hand when we arrived. It was warm (we were just at the end of a hot spell in the U.K.). Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic, with cereal, juices, toast & a full English on offer. The big measure of a place, is would I return? Definitely!

The staff at this property were extreamly welcoming and friendly. Lots of good advice on where to visit during our trip. Only a 15 minute walk into York centre perfect for us with 2 small children. Breakfast was excellent and catered to our childrens fussy needs! Highly recommended If you're looking for a cosy, friendly and quiet accomodation

Not worth booking online.
We were told on the day of check out by Lynne that if we had booked directly with Greenside by phone we would have been able to have an on-suite room. Instead all that is available on booking sites will be rooms 7 or 8 very dated rooms with a shared toilet and shower very tiny. The onsite parking is only for 3 maybe four cars. They only take cash or cheque as payment.

Thank you for your review. You are quite correct in that only a limited number of rooms are available on booking sites. The rest of the rooms are available for customers who book direct. There is free parking for upto 6 cars in a locked car park with further parking available at the front of the guest house.

Greenside - bargain accommodation in York
Stayed in Greenside B&B for one night. The owners are very friendly and helpful. My single room and bed were very small but breakfast for a change was huge. I even got my morning grapefruit which was a lovely surprise. Overall my short stay there was very pleasant, and I couldn't ask for more, considering the price I paid for the room in York's B&B. Thank you for your hospitality The only minus was the noise coming from the busy road that kept me up in the night for hours. I eventually had to close the window to be able to sleep.

Just a brief stay for a couple of nights, however we were made most welcome. The site is a good 15 mins walk outside the city centre, however a No 2 Park and Ride bus stops pretty much right outside (check the route as the journey into the city is from a different stop).

We are disappointed by this low score which has been posted anonymously. Some guests who left this morning after staying with us for the last week left the comment “lovely stay, fantastic hosts, great breakfast” coupled with our high scores from hotels.com and Expedia makes this low score difficult to understand.
