"Still in the process of new owners taking over, so for example can’t accept Amex yet. Most things remain the same - lots of opportunities for new owners to improve, from a fairly average spa with only a few jets working for 3 minutes at a time, to noisy rooms with average aircon. Breakfast very overpriced and omelettes especially poor."

"It was a rare find. The hosts were so accommodating and care for our comfort. The location is tucked away from CBD and it is perfect if you are looking for a quiet stay with a lot of walking trails at the door step. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommended!"

"This might be the prettiest place I ever stayed at. The scenery is spectacular. The hotel is just perfect. It's a beautiful country-house with exceptional food and the service is great. A++. I strongly recommend this. We did the horse and ATV tour and it's a must do. Fly into Wellington and rent a car to see the beautiful scenery on the 2 hr drive. I would love to return."

"Wow!! Our stay at the Sofitel exceeded expectations! We have stayed at quite a few different ones around NZ and we have to say that the Sofitel is in a league of its own! The staff were amazing and couldn’t help us enough. We were only there for one night but we didn’t want to leave - we will be back. Absolutely worth it. Close to lampton quay too so very central."

"Location was fantastic, we had been specifically looking for a room that had a terrace/balcony so we could open windows but on arrival we were told this hotel does not have them, although that was noted on the booking as available on expedia. Disappointed on arrival but we stayed anyway and had a lovely peaceful night in the city and great access to everything we came for.
