"We only stayed the one night, so didnt get chance to use the facilities.
Although we didnt have a dog, there was plenty of evidence that the hotel was very dog friendly.
We had a very nice double room on the ground floor. It was clean and welcoming. There was a variety of chairs to sit on. Much more comfy than squatting on the side of the bed.
The bathroom was also spotlessly clean with a lovely walk in shower and a bath. Lovely large white fluffy bath towels.
Our stay came with a breakfast, which was really appreciated as we had a long drive back home. The menu choice was good and varied.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and wouldnt hesitate in recommending to others.
The only thing that spoilt our stay was my husband getting black marks on his hand going to breakfast. From the ground flloor rooms, there is a small number of steps going down to the reception and restaurant area. Im guessing that the handrail had been cleaned with a metal polish and the residue had not been polished off sufficiently. My husband has mobility issues and would have gripped the handrail quite tightly to help navigate the steps. Luckily there was lovely thick paper napkins on our table, so i was able to wipe most of the marks off."
"Hotel was welcoming, check-in was straight forward, room was really clean and spacious, plenty hot drink choices, however had to ask for fresh milk.
Fridge was great addition, however made a noise the whole night
Light from under the outside door shone all night, floorboards creaked so heard everyone pass through hallway.
Breakfast was in a lovely ambiance in the restaurant over looking the estuary, but had a long wait for the food, pastries were hard, definitely a day old, cooked breakfast was freshly cooked but nothing out of the ordinary infact we had no toast with it, as we has opted to have a pastry first. If you wanted to have a cappuccino or latte coffee or iced coffee had to pay extra. "
"The hotel itself was lovely and felt opulent and quite grand - until you got into the rooms. We paid quite a lot of money for what was described as a Superior Double and were told we had been upgraded to a honeymoon suite as it was my wife's birthday. Sadly the first room was awful with paint coming off the walls and no bulbs in the ceiling (the wires were actually hanging down and exposed). We complained and were offered the room next door, which was bigger and seemed better, but we soon realised the furnishings were very poor quality and way past their best. The bathroom was superb but was completely out of sync with the rest of the room. The balcony was out of bounds too as it was unsafe! This was a big room but was most definitely not of a standard that merits the title of honeymoon suite."
"We had a wonderful stay at the Lugger. My Dad is terminally ill and frail. He spent many summers as a boy in Portloe and one of his final wishes was to return for a holiday. Four of us from 3 generations went to stay.
From the moment i spoke to the team there about the booking to the moment we left they couldn’t have been more accommodating or understanding. Every member of staff went the extra mile to help him.
It was a fantastic weekend to relax and enjoy the hotel and the area with several great meals, good wine and fantastic breakfasts.
It all made my dad so happy and created great memories for us all. I highly recommend and just want to say thank you. "
