Amazing to stay in a world heritage site! Especially access to the Abbey out of hours was truly memorable. My 5 year old daughter loved it

Loved every minute of our stay, room was big and bathroom clean, pool was a nice touch with the weather being so warm, staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast but I'm sure it was just as amazing as the hotel. Location was closed enough to the centre but not too close.

Had the most friendly of welcomes and the staff could not do enough to ensure our stay was pleasurable. A very short walk away was the town with its many restaurants and shops however there is a restaurant on site. There is secure parking or off road parking. Breakfast exceeded expectations with a wide choice of cold meat, cheese and pastries, cereals and cooked food. The coffee was excellent.

A brilliantly run hotel with the most friendly staff and with rooms that you could pay twice as much for and still have a bargain. Very good place to stay

Superb hotel. Fantastic position by river, in old town below Chateau. Very comfortable room, stylish decor and impeccable service. Lovely big bathroom with picture windows (with curtains...). Great, fresh breakfast, served at your table. Excellent range of Scotch Whiskey too!

Absolutely spectacular. We really enjoyed our time at Chateau de Candes. Bertrand and Sam went out of their way to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Running this place is not easy but the family are doing their absolute best as custodians. They are fully dedicated and committed to making Chateau de Candes a success. Merci Bertrand et Sam. We will definitely be back.

Excellent location, very clean and parking a real bonus. Two minor issues, water left in kettle and automatic light in toilet was like a search light coming on, when getting up in the night. A real waku up call.

Excellent , convenient and owner and staff excellent. I would use again and fantastic restaurant just down the road.

We’ve just spent a week at Hôtel Au Relais Saint Maurice, and it was a real highlight of our holiday. The hotel is a beautiful old house, full of character and history stretching back hundreds of years. Maurice, the owner, is absolutely dedicated to the place and to his guests – nothing is too much trouble, and his care shows in every detail. Breakfast was a real treat each morning, with homemade food and an incredible range of choices, all served in the peaceful courtyard or the amazing dining...

A great stop off hotel to break up a 800km journey but would also be great for a 2 night stay to explore the area. Lovely pool and very good restaurant. Breakfast great value for money too. Highly recommended

We had an absoloutely wonderful two night stay with our toddler at Cave Auger. The upstairs family apartment was perfect for us , and we were particularly grateful for the excellent air con during one of the heatwaves earlier this year. The pool was great - warm and immaculately clean. Stéphane was the most welcoming host - and we particularly enjoyed the dinner on the terrace that was all local produce, and it came with our own little barrel of delicious wine. Very clean comfotable and spacious. Below ground parking very useful in extreme hot weather.

Chinon is a wonderful place and the Diderot matches it’s surroundings. We go every year and love it.
