"If you are visiting Izmir (Smyrna) for its historic significance, this is the hotel for you. It is across the street from the historic Agora site that is well worth visiting, with artifacts and buildings and arches dating from the time of Alexander the Great. It is also located in the middle of the historic market/bazaar Kemeralti Market, an adventure, delicious and lots of fun. "My room had such a beautiful view and was very comfortable. The staff were great. The location is a short walk to the museum, shops, and port. I hope to stay at Variante again soon. One thing: if you are arriving from the metro (Konak Station) you will walk up very steep hills to get to the hotel. It is a good workout!"
