Highly recommend this beautiful property. Many guests stop en route to the Garden Route, but it’s worth taking a break for a few days and enjoying all it has to offer - we did! Thanks to Alison and her team for a lovely stay.

Our stay far exceeded our expectations. The service was truly exceptional, and we loved every single detail. The beds were comfortable, grounds are beautiful, breakfast was delicious, check-in experience was lovely, and we also joined for dinner which had a great ambience. Given load shedding schedules there were also thoughtful details such as battery powered lights in the rooms. Would highly recommend a stay here and we hope to return again soon!

One of the best places I have ever stayed in and probably for the value it is the best. The guest house is beautiful and spotless, the rooms are really comfortable. The garden is peaceful and great to relax in. The food is the out of this world. Breakfast had two courses as well as a buffet - poached pear and then eggs royale - they were both what you would expect from a top restaurant. If you are going to stay around here - stay at this place.

We had an awesome time. The town and your lodge are stunning. I have driven past Swellendam maybe 30 times in the last 7 years since I moved to Knysna. Never once had I ever turned off the N2 and driven through Swellendam. We ended up spending a small fortune at one of your local art galleries. And the restaurant where we had dinner (Drostdy) was excellent!

We stayed at Schoone Oordt during July and rented 3 rooms for our travel party. We arrived in the late afternoon, only to find that there was load shedding underway, and the resort had made no provision of inverters or generators for our rooms. So our first experience of our rooms was dark, cold and gloomy. Trying to unpack and get set up in our rooms while stumbling around in the dark was no fun. Overall, we only had power about half the time we at the resort. There was no disclosure when we made the booking that the resort had no electricity backup, and we assumed that since load shedding has been ongoing for years, that such provision would have been made at a resort of this calibre. Additionally, one of the rooms had a broken wall heater that didn't function when the electricity came back on and so the occupants were freezing throughout the night. The only saving grace was that all the staff were super nice, and the breakfast was wonderful. Overall though, we had had high expectations, but it was a very disappointing experience at a resort that charges a premium rate. Buyer beware...

Felt like family! Very accomodating

Great family stay! The food was great, and very accomodating as we had vegans, vegetarians and lactose free guests in the family to deal with. They brought wonderful floaty toys to the pool for the kids and made our stay really relaxing and nice. The staff was so nice it was as if we had been friends forever.

Comfortable, relaxing and exceptional service.

We enjoyed an amaizing weekend with our every need taken care off by Alison and her team! They left no stone unturned to make it enjoyable and we made the most of the garden and Richards' beautiful koi ponds. We did not even explore the town much and rather opted to stay at the establishments comfort and relaxing environment. All the staff were helpful, friendly and respected our privacy. Just one night but will return. The building and grounds are beautiful and the rooms are very tastefully and pleasingly decorated.
