Make sure you arrive by the strict 9 pm check-in time. We didn't receive the messages indicating there was a strict check-in cut off time, so the person who checked us in wasn't very happy with us. The motel definitely needs upgrades, but it was sufficient for a place to sleep for two nights. I likely would not return though.

Nicely cleaned up/renovated. Comfy room. Overall a pleasurable space -- nicely angled cieling and cool tile floor. A few more plastic cups and an ice machine would be nice. Still, this is among the best values I've ever had in a motel.

I had a clean room and felt safe and slept great. I was in the area for a horse show at the Fair Grounds and had to check in late (after normal check-in hours). The owner made sure she contacted me to help me do self-check in and then afterwards, she texted me to make sure I got in safely. Great Experience. 100% satisfied.

Second time at the Sussex Motel. I feel like each time I stay is the similar experience you feel when entering a speak easy. The outside looks like a normal rode side Motel, BUT, when you go inside it is lovely! For the price you cannot beat it. Clean and has everything you need and the decor is nice. Other hotels in the area break the bank, but this price is reasonable and in a great spot. I live in another state so traveling to NJ is something I do often to see friends. I will be staying at the Sussex Motel when I do. Also, shout out to Jackie she is a doll! Very attentive and gracious. Lovely service and rooms!

The room was spacious, clean and in great condition. It looked as if the room was recently renovated. Check in was super easy and the staff was beyond friendly and very helpful. The mattress was to firm for my liking and the AC kept going on and off even though I had it set to high, only negatives. Overall a great stay and highly recommend!!

The property manager, Jackie, was great. She went beyond expectations to assure us late arrival. We found the room and property a very good value to sleep and shower after a local music festival. It's your old fashion strip motel, with convenient parking right in front of your room. Our room had been recently renovated and provided everything we needed. Would stay there again. Thanks again Jackie!

This was practically the Bates Motel. Run down. NO DEADBOLTS on the doors. We literally wedged a chair under our doorknob at night. Freezer in the room fridge was iced up solid. Room clean, more or less. Shower smelled like urine. Toilet was so low to the ground me knees practically gave out trying to sit on it. Door had so much daylight around it rain came in. Drunk guy and his girlfriend sat outside the next room until midnight talking loudly, playing music on their cellphone speaker, and singing. We never left anything valuable in the room. This was a $75 room, AT BEST. WHAT A RIPOFF. ORBITZ to you need to DEOP THIS MOTEL.

We just stayed overnight but not what expected from website . Photos are a bit misleading. Nevertheless the room was very clean. And location was convenient, near crystal springs resort and many commercial stores. Place is ok for overnight not more than that if you are used to better accommodations.

This motel looks like it's from the 1970's, but we liked the retro feel of the place. When we arrived to check in, there was a police car with its lights on sitting in the parking lot and a used blue exam glove in the parking lot next to our space (just a little disconcerting!) Both were gone when we returned from our function. Our room was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The sheets weren't very soft, but there were two soft blankets on the bed, so I slept between those. The air conditioner worked very well, although it was up so high on the wall that my husband had to stand on a chair to adjust the temperature (we were warned about this upon check-in.). All in all, a comfortable night's stay, especially for the price. If we're ever in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here.
